Christina El Moussa has signed on as E!’s celebrity guest editor for lifestyle and home. In addition to starring in one of HGTV’s most popular shows, Flip or Flop, Christina is a real estate investor and interior design expert. Whether she’s tiling walls for a renovation project or switching to mom duty with her two children, this is one woman who’s always on the move and she took over E! Home during Fashion Week to show us how it’s done.

To finish out the week, the real estate star is answering all your questions about her successful TV series: from everything about flipped houses to flip flops.

Online answering questions

We’ve had like two episodes where we lost money. In real life, yes, we’ve lost money. Sometimes when you go into [a project], you know there’s a potential to lose but that’s just the name of the game. I think we lose on maybe 10% [of our projects]. Sometimes there might be a foundation of the house, and then you buy it and you don’t know how bad it really is. One time the foundation was really bad [on a project] and we lost like 60k.

Online answering questions

How the material is laid, if the tile is straight, if the cabinets open and close properly you can tell visually right when you walk in from how [the house is] painted and other factors like that.

Online answering questions

I like painting, I think it’s relaxing. I also like designing; I don’t really like the manual labor, to be honest.

Well, since we separated he now wears closed-toe shoes; he tries to look more presentable! But yes, it’s definitely dangerous though, I’d always tell him not to. He just really loves flip flips.

One day we came to set and everyone was acting kind of strange (they get there a little before us). I didn’t know what was going on, and I walked into the house and there’s this glowing, purple light coming from the back bedroom and I can hear these slow jams playing. I walk in, and there’s this person sleeping on a blow-up mattress listening to R B music and there are SpaghettiOs on the counter that someone had cooked! His clothes were in the closet, and he was just passed out in the bed and he totally scared me. I screamed and ran out of the house. He had partied there the night before and made the noodles and brought a boom box. We gave him a hundred bucks to get him out of there, and then watched him walk away with his little backpack.

Online answering questions

So we don’t stage all houses. We do for the show because it looks better on TV, but it’s expensive to stage. It’s not always necessary especially if you flip a house and you do a really good job on design, I usually tell people who go through our seminar company that you don’t have to spend money on staging. Also, we hire staging companies we don’t do it ourselves. But I tell them to work based off of the style of the house, so for example if it’s a modern design, they’ll stage the space with modern furniture. If it’s a traditional or Spanish look, they’re going to go with more of that d cor.

Online answering questions

I like to go to this design center in Costa Mesa, everything is custom there though. I actually have a hard time finding furniture I like. I guess Z Gallerie is where I get my accessories and tableware. I used to like Restoration Hardware a lot.

Online answering questions

In one of the episodes that actually aired, there were like 1000 cockroaches everywhere. There was still food in the fridge from who knows how long, and a million cockroaches. So when we pulled the refrigerator out of the house, there was like a line of them following the refrigerator out the door. It was disgusting. And cockroaches are really hard to get rid of when you have that many. It was constant bombing, bombing, bombing [to treat the problem]. Really gross.

Online answering questions

One of my best friends has a cosmetic line, her name is Shannon Houston, so I use Pink Dust Cosmetics. I like to do a bronze smoky eye with some lashes and a nude lip. That’s my favorite look.

Online answering questions

It depends what stage the project is in. If I’m going to be painting and tiling, I usually wear gym clothes [from a brand like] Lululemon. Otherwise, just jeans and a cute top with boots. I usually wear closed-toe shoes on the first couple days of filming because it’s usually pretty gross inside the houses, so I try not to wear sandals or anything open-toed.

Online answering questions

We’re still filming right now. We’re currently doing six episodes for season seven, all at the same time. We film together about three days a week and everything is going fine. Things are they way they were before, we work well together and we’re used to it.

Online answering questions

Yea, I’m sure that’s one of the reasons we continue [with the show], because we have to continue to co-parent no matter what, so we definitely agreed that for the best interest of the kids that we’re going to work together and do the show together and keep a united front.

Your questions answered, Surrogacy UK, questions answered.#Questions #answered

    Your questions answered

You are considering doing one of the most amazing things that one human being can do for another. But, it is important to be upfront: being a surrogate is an emotionally and physically demanding task. It is important that a woman considering this option has the backing of a partner, family or friends to provide emotional support and practical help throughout and after the pregnancy. Surrogacy is not something to enter into lightly. Careful consideration must be given to the medical, emotional, legal and practical issues, and to the implications of surrendering the child at birth. Thought must also be given to the effect on any existing children, the potential surrogate’s partner, family and friends.

Absolutely not. While it is illegal for a surrogate to receive payment, it is perfectly legal (and expected within Surrogacy UK) that the IPs will pay you for any reasonable expenses that you incur. This might cover loss of earnings; the cost of maternity clothes; the travel costs that you and your family incur when you visit the IPs; and the travel and accommodation costs for attending any fertility clinic or hospital appointments. Childcare costs to look after your own children if you’re away from home will also be paid.

At Surrogacy UK it is also expected that IPs pay for any counselling or professional support, in connection with surrogacy, that you may need during pregnancy and after birth. Surrogacy UK’s full rules and policies are set out in a separate document – Rules and Policies link . Please make the time to review this important document.

Are there any criteria for becoming a surrogate?

A potential surrogate must be in good overall health and be able to undergo a pregnancy with the minimum amount of risk to her own health. Some medical conditions will prevent a woman becoming a surrogate, for example if there are any known medical problems which could lead to complications with the pregnancy, or put the surrogate at risk.

As the risks of illness and problems are much higher in the first pregnancy, it is strongly recommended that surrogates should have borne at least one child previously, and preferably have completed her own family. Only in very exceptional cases should a woman who has not had a child herself consider becoming a surrogate. Surrogacy UK does not have an upper age limit for surrogates, however, as the risks of pregnancy increase with age, any woman over 35 should give careful consideration before offering to become a surrogate. We do only accept applications from surrogates aged 21 and over.

Death in pregnancy and childbirth is not common but it does happen. 1 in 10,000 pregnancies result in the death of the pregnant woman.

How do I choose which Intended Parents to work with?

Surrogates often feel guilty because they feel that they are playing God with someone’s life. A Surrogate can’t help everyone, but if she decides to help just one couple, she will have changed that couple’s life forever and have given the most extra-ordinary gift.

Your choice of which Intended Parents to work with can only be a decision for you and your family, but below we have tried to think of a number of points you may want to bear in mind:

    • What sort of surrogacy relationship are the Intended Parents looking to enter into: Straight or Host?
    • Are they of an age that you feel comfortable with?
    • Do they already have children as a couple?
    • Are they within easy travelling distance? (Boring and practical we know – but it is important!)
    • Do you have similar interests?
    • Does your family like them?

Surrogacy is very much about personalities and you will be spending a lot of time together before, and probably after, the baby is born. At Surrogacy UK we very firmly believe that friendship should come first and surrogacy second. If you find a couple that you like, and who you trust as friends, then you will have a strong foundation for a Surrogacy Arrangement.

    How long will it take?

There is no ‘usual’ time frame for finding the couple that is right for you. Some Surrogates find a fantastic couple straight away; others may meet two or three couples before they find the right ones. The most important thing is that you and your family are totally comfortable with your choice. If you do not take time to get to know one another before becoming pregnant, nine months can seem a very long time!

Can I be a member of Surrogacy UK and another surrogacy organisation?

Surrogacy UK does not restrict you from joining another organisation after all, the point of Surrogacy UK is to allow families to be created.

If you d like to read questions from the Azure AD, Microsoft Intune or Azure RMS Jump Starts you can and coming up in just a couple of weeks time we have the Windows 10 As A Service Jump Start, which will heavily lean on some of the core skills developed over the past few months, during these jump starts. You can also view the jump starts for Azure AD, Microsoft Intune and online now, and Azure RMS and Remote App episodes are just days away!

    Questions answered

Let s get to the questions and answers…

Question: Can a user only be assigned to one RemoteApp collection and can collection only have one template image? How can user access two different template images? I have a scenario where I have two applications that cannot be installed to same computer. Is my only choice to try App-V virtualization?

You can contact support and ask them to enable the user to be assigned to multiple collections. You may want to consider using App-V regardless so that you can reduce your monthly cost.

Question: The hybrid collection requires a vNET. Can we use our existing vNET?

Yes, you can use an existing Azure VNet

Question: Are there any criteria I must meet to use the cloud and my existing network equipment simultaneously?

There are two deployment types in Azure Remote App: Cloud and Hybrid. Hybrid can connect to an existing AD DS and apps that authenticate with Kerberos using Azure VPN or Express Route. Of course in both Cloud and Hybrid you are using the cloud for your remote apps.

Question: I would like to know please how would you handle Azure RemoteApp app collection with MySQLDB. Can I do this with a cloud deployment or it has to be a hybrid deployment?

You should be able to use cloud deployment. You will need to enable the appropriate endpoints for your MySQL VM, of course this assumes that your MySQL VM is in the cloud and being connected to over HTTP.

Question: Utilizing external data for RemoteApp for something like Sage50 which needs a file share, where would we store that data in Azure?

You could store that for example in a Azure VM in IaaS, and have that connected to the same Azure vNet as your Azure RemoteApp Collection or you could connect that same vNet to your existing on-prem deployment for the file server using Azure VPN or Express Route

Question: Can we use web based application using Azure?

If you mean publishing a web based application as a RemoteApp? Yes, you can. Simply publish Internet Exploring as a RemoteApp and provide the URL as a parameter.

Question: Can we publish multiple Internet explorer with diff URLs?

    Yes, that is possible.

Question: Is there a possible solution for 16 bit or 32bit application publishing solution?

16-bit applications are not supported. 32-bit applications normally will work fine, provided they are compatible with 2012 R2 RDSH multi-user environment.

Question: Can we deploy Hybrid Remote App and access our on-premises network folders as well?

    Yes, that is definitely possible!

Question: Can you have a hybrid deployment, and an in-cloud only deployment in the same tenant?

Yes, you can create multiple Azure RemoteApp Collections of different types within the same Azure Subscription.

Question: How we can upgrade our application in Azure RemoteApp once published?

To upgrade the application, you upgrade the application in the Template Image and update the Azure RemoteApp Collection based on the new template image.

Question: can we integrate Microsoft App-v with this solution for stream application and publish through remote app?

Yes, App-V is supported on the Hybrid Azure RemoteApp collection.

Question: Can I use a cloud or existing virtual machine as the template for my RemoteApp collection?

Question: Is it possible to use GPO s with the remote apps. i.e. from an azure hosted AD or on-premises

Yes, in a Hybrid Scenario the RD Session Host servers that Azure RemoteApp provision will become member servers of you on-premises domain, so you can re-use your existing GPO, login scripts etc.

Question: If the user closes the application, will this go to disconnected session or log off?

It will go to disconnected and stay there for 4 hours.

Question: What s the default security on the remote desktop?

By default, all users are standard users. In a Hybrid configuration you can apply Group Policy to the servers to further control what users can and cannot do inside their session.

Question: If I choose a big machine to build my image will Azure RemoteApp Cost more?

No. The size of the VM you choose to build your image on has no bearing on the size of the VM that it will be deployed to.

Question: Can the System Center consoles be run as RemoteApps?

Yes, you can create an image with those apps in, upload it and provision it to users in a RemoteApp collection
