Welcome to Mathletics! We love learning.

Take a look at Mathletics in the classroom

Since we launched Mathletics at the school 18 months ago, the outcomes have been stunning. Students across the board have met their challenging targets in maths. We have seen student engagement shoot up and my colleagues have often spoken of how useful the Mathletics teacher tools have significantly aided their lesson planning and implementation. The diagnostic testing available has been invaluable.

Two major world universities agree.

Recent independent long-term studies into Mathletics, by the Universities of Oxford and Sydney, found that pupils regularly using Mathletics outperformed non-Mathletics users in external testing both in terms of attainment and progress.

More pupils making at least 2 levels of progress in UK Government tests (SATs).

Students spending as little as 30mins per week on Mathletics curriculum activities, gained on average 9% in Australian Government tests (NAPLAN).

The impact is cumulative. Students with 2+ years usage saw an even greater jump in NAPLAN results.

Mathletics: targeting the curriculum

GCSE Maths Revision

(Focussed revision for year 10 and year 11)

Prepare yourself to be amazed by numbers in a plethora of different representations. Here you will find angles, fractions, indices, percentages, powers, ratios, statistics and vectors to satisfy even the most enquiring mind.

Such is the complexity of GCSE maths formula and equations that HTML (the language of the Internet) cannot cope with them in text form. Consequently what you see in these maths quizzes is the result of over 3,600 different images and hundreds of hours of work. You had better make good use of them!

Each of the quizzes has a suffix of either “(F)” or “(H)” which signify “Foundation” and “Higher”. We recommend that all GCSE students tackle the Foundation quizzes and the more ambitious high-flyers amongst you wade-in to the Higher ones as well!

GCSE Maths Revision – Not Easy but it’s Fun!

We can’t pretend to be able to make it a piece of cake to solve complex mathematical problems but at least we will try and make it fun!

SAT by MBA Learning Center Offers High-Quality Academic Programs for the Upcoming Spring Summer

MONTVILLE, NJ – Spring has finally arrived and the summer is approaching! Located on New Road in Parsippany, SAT by MBA Learning Center offers a series of high-quality but low-cost academic programs to benefit local students in North Jersey areas.

SAT by MBA offers small group classes (3-6 students) as well as one-on-one private tutoring; we have a flexible schedule and can tailor our program to fit your child s needs.

During the school year we offer more than 15 academic courses in various areas (see listing below). Other than the academic courses, in summer the forensics coach of Montville Twp. High School (MTHS) will offer a 2-week (20 hours) intensive training camp in person at our center to help students from other communities. The coach has 27-years of experience of leading MTHS Forensics Club and helps the students win numerous awards every year.

Starting March 30. a new series of SAT classes targeting May and June SAT tests will kick off. The classroom location for Monday/Thursday s SAT programs will be held at Montville Community Park s Youth Center at 130 Change Bridge Road, Montville, NJ 07045. Other classes will be held at SAT by MBA s office at 141 New Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054.

The SAT program is designed by SAT by MBA Learning Center to offer students the ultimate solution to maximize SAT scores effectively and efficiently. The program s goal is to help students with their academic path in a time-conscious way. Each session will cover either SAT math or SAT verbal (including critical reading/writing). The students may choose one math only and/or one verbal only sessions to target their individual needs. For new students who have never taken any SAT tests and have never had any SAT training, we highly recommend them to register for both subjects. There will be 3 to 4 free optional proctored mock exams to be held at the SAT by MBA Learning Center in Parsippany. A Q A session will also be offered after the mock exams.

Students will be required to secure an SAT text book The Official SAT Study Guide , 2 nd edition published by the College Board (ISBN-13: 978-0874478525). For our summer SAT prep camp, another new SAT book published by the College Board will be needed if you plan to take the Redesigned SAT which will be offered starting March 2016. The book, Official SAT Study Guide (2016 Edition, ISBN-13: 978-1457304309), will hit the market on June 30 this year.

As we know, every student has his/her own strength and weakness. The one-to-one private lesson is the best way to focus on each individual student s needs. If the students need additional help on the side to advance to a higher level, we can help them arrange private lessons or another advanced/small group classes at the facility located in Parsippany, NJ.

All of the instructors at SAT by MBA Learning Center are experienced SAT teachers and hold at least one master and/or one Ph.D. degree; most of them were graduated from Ivy League schools or first-tier colleges.

Most of the teachers at SAT by MBA are also experienced in teaching SAT II/ACT/AP/GRE tests as well as all middle school and high school academic subjects. Our Ivy League graduated professor, Ph.D. in English, will also help you on the writing of your college application essays as well as master s and doctoral theses. EAST HANOVER, NJ – Gazpacho screams summer time. Made with the freshest vegetables available during the peak of Summer, this chilled soup packs a flavorful punch and is very, very healthy.

There are really no rules with Gazpacho. You can keep it chunky or puree it until silky smooth. I think the key to success with this dish is to use the very freshest ingredients you can.

    What is distance learning (e-learning)? Definition from #distance #learning #medical #coding

    #

    distance learning (e-learning)

Distance learning, sometimes called e-learning, is a formalized teaching and learning system specifically designed to be carried out remotely by using electronic communication. Because distance learning is less expensive to support and is not constrained by geographic considerations, it offers opportunities in situations where traditional education has difficulty operating. Students with scheduling or distance problems can benefit, as can employees, because distance education can be more flexible in terms of time and can be delivered virtually anywhere.

    Popular distance learning technologies include:

    • Voice-centered technology, such as CD or MP3 recordings or Webcasts
    • Video technology, such as instructional videos, DVDs, and interactive videoconferencing
    • Computer-centered technology delivered over the Internet or corporate intranet

Studies indicate that distance learning can be as effective as the traditional format when the methods are appropriate to the teaching tasks, there is student-teacher interaction, and the teachers provide students with appropriate and timely feedback.

    P.A.T.C.H. Assessment Scale v. 3

    P retest for A ttitudes T oward C omputers in H ealthcare

    June Kaminski 1996 – 2016

I created the first version of the P.A.T.C.H. (Pretest for Attitudes Toward Computers in Healthcare) in 1996 to help my students explore their feelings about learning to use computers both in education and healthcare. Further revisions occurred in 2007, which culminated in the second version. The third version debuted in 2011 to include statements related to social media, ehealth, electronic health records, and mobile technology. It also streamlined the scoring process. This scale focuses on attitudes and feelings about using computers in the practice setting. You may download a pdf copy to print and complete by hand in the Competencies Plan section below.

Or, you can click on the right image to securely complete and score the assessment scale online. You will need to create an account in the course area to access the online scale. If you are from an educational institution, please ensure that the site is approved by your server so you receive your confirmation email when you sign up. Also remember to notice your final score to compare it to the scale interpretations (download at bottom of page this is part of the pdf version of the Scale and the Personal Plan).

    Application

Over the years, the P.A.T.C.H. Scale has been used quite consistently by various educators from around the globe (i.e. USA, Canada. Philippines, Jamaica, China, and Turkey) to test their Nursing student’s attitudes towards computers in health care. Nurse administrators and clinicians have used it with various groups of nurses working in hospitals, community health centers, schools, and home health. It has also been used in several graduate students’ thesis and dissertation work and by other nurse researchers. Some published highlights are listed below. If you would like to use the P.A.T.C.H. Scale in your research, writing, or curriculum materials, please contact me for written permission, and cite the Scale appropriately in your work.

Lesson One. Overview of the House

Within the hospitality industry, restaurant staff members refer to their workplaces as “The House.”

  • Lesson Two: Goals, Safety, and Profits

As a restaurant manager, you will have many goals beyond the personal.

  • Lesson Three: Customer Service Essentials

Customer service, and the retention of customers, will always be paramount for the success of any restaurant business. Statistics reveal that if a diner has a positive experience in a restaurant, they will tell three friends about it.

  • Lesson Four: Guest Recovery and Problematic Guests

Good waiters will do everything they can to ensure a guest’s satisfaction. On the off chance they’re unable to satisfy a guest, you the manager, will have to step in. This is where guest service becomes guest recovery.

  • Lesson Five: Hiring and Team-Building

Your effectiveness as a manager is directly related to your ability to relate to people, and the quality of your interactions with your staff.

  • Lesson Six. Training

The training period of your employees should be thorough enough to cover the following areas: Rules and regulations, leadership structure throughout the restaurant (chain of command), and safety regulations, and others.

  • Lesson Seven: Scheduling

Understaffing leads to overworked employees, poor service, and staff members cutting corners to accomplish their tasks — potentially causing food safety issues, accidents and equipment damage.

  • Lesson Eight: Supervision, Counseling, and Discipline

Beyond interviewing and scheduling, the bulk of managerial work is in supervision. Excellence in supervision means achieving positive results through people.

  • Lesson Nine: Controlling Food and Beverage Costs

As a manager, you may not have much direct involvement with the food products that go into the kitchen, but items used for the Front of the House are almost always that manager’s direct responsibility.

  • Lesson Ten: Maximizing Revenue

You might actually enjoy periods of time when business is slow in your restaurant; the workday is less stressful, you have fewer guests to take care of, and you get to go home early.

  • Lesson Eleven: Sanitation, Liability, and Legal Considerations

Restaurants, like any other business, are unfortunately often targets of lawsuits, and their managers must be the first line of defense. Your restaurant or employees can, in some cases, be liable for any injuries or illnesses received by guests.

RN Options-Early Admission to MSN or DNP

The quality of care and patient outcomes are significantly impacted by the education attained by health care professionals, primarily nurses. Research shows that nurses prepared at the baccalaureate and graduate levels are linked to lower mortality rates, fewer medical errors, and shorter hospital stays. In a study done by Kovner and group (2010), BSN programs were found to provide higher levels of preparation in evidence-based practice, research, and teamwork and collaboration – which are key in today’s complex health care environment.

Demand for the BSN-degreed nurse is rising due to the country’s increasing population of elderly adults, which needs more complex care than other age brackets. In light of the projected shortage of nurses, there is a need for new nurses with the capability to take on more responsibilities and bigger workloads. Plus, government agencies (the military, veterans, and public health organizations) and many care facilities with Magnet Status require a baccalaureate degree in new job candidates.

Bachelor’s-level education offers many benefits to the practitioner as well, including increased salary and more opportunities to advance one’s career. In a 2010 survey of RNs, BSN-prepared nurses earned higher average incomes than diploma or associate degree nurses. To move into a managerial or specialized care position, the BSN degree is the minimum: often, the Master’s or DNP degree is required. In addition, some health care organizations are mandating that RNs earn their BSN within 10 years of employment.

RNs are often juggling many commitments on their time (work and families) and are seeking ways to earn the BSN in the most efficient way. Pitt Nursing offers the RN Options-Early Admission to MSN/DNP program to give professional nurses an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and career prospects at a school of nursing with an international reputation for excellence. The curriculum is designed to build upon the professional nurse’s experience and skill sets to prepare them to earn an advanced degree (either the Master’s or the Doctor of Nursing Practice ) in one of our highly-ranked graduate degree programs/concentrations. The School accepts up to 68 transfer credits (restrictions apply and are explained here) and 24 credits of the RN Options curriculum are bridge credits – they also count towards the first-year’s core courses for the graduate degree. So, you earn both the BSN and a graduate degree from an internationally-renown university while saving a YEAR of coursework.

RN Options provides professional nurses an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills at a school of nursing with an international reputation for excellence. Not only does this curriculum builds upon a professional nurse’s strengths and experiences. it expands knowledge and practice skills to provide potential career-changing opportunities.

Courses are taught by the same faculty as the traditional four-year BSN program, nursing leaders who are experts in their field. Students also have many opportunities for hands-on learning in UPMC and its nationally-recognized healthcare facilities.

The RN Options track and curriculum are designed for:

    • Registered nurses with either an ACEN (NLN), ACICS, or CCNE accredited diploma or associate degree
    • Registered nurses without a BSN who want to enter the Master’s program via the RN Options track, and gain early admission to MSN or DNP programs

Nursing leaders who are experts in their field teach the courses. Faculty serve as educators, role models and mentors.

It’s that time of year, again. Graduation season is upon us, and for youth workers, this season will be spent at multiple graduations, graduation parties, and preparing for the “graduation” from youth group. There is no doubt that this is an exciting time of the year. As you look back at the countless hours invested in each student, you pray that he/she will continue in church, seek the Lord, and mature in the faith.

    Written by Mary Elizabeth Haynes

Most of us are regulars and our order is known before we have time to speak it. As we sat there enjoying both the ministry of small talk and pondering some of God’s goodness, Bailey began to notice something about the people I was exchanging hellos with— they were all older than me. She asked, “Who was that? How do you know him?” I responded, “That is my friend Dave. We go to church together. And that’s Hamilton, we see each other here at least once a week if not more. Oh, and that’s my friend Anna, she stops in on her way to work down the street.”

We asked two youth pastors the question, “How has the Pray for Me Campaign impacted your youth ministry?” Their responses were powerful. So we thought we’d share them in their entirety with you.

Recently I wrote a post about the Pray for Me Campaign being the secret sauce of Intergenerational Ministry. In that post, I wrote about the combination of three ingredients that set the stage for life-giving intergenerational relationships. I would like to follow up with a focus on the five benefits that flow directly from the implementing of the Pray for Me Campaign.

The Pray for Me Campaign is the Secret Sauce of Intergenerational Ministry! When I first heard about the Pray for Me Campaign, I was intrigued by both the simplicity and the power of the idea of connecting generations through prayer.

God has a plan for your life. I believe Scripture offers overwhelming support for this statement, both in individual verses and in specific narratives of individuals. Discovering when it the right time to move or to wait is no easy task. Now, we can have some fun theological conversations about how this actually fleshes out in the life of a believer. But I wanted to take a quick moment and offer some insight into one aspect of God’s plan for our lives. How do we know when to take action and when to wait?

Your graduating seniors may represent a chance to evaluate your youth ministry strategy. While it’s by no means cut and dry, by looking at your graduating seniors, you might just get a glimpse into what students look like having come through your youth ministry. It could be an invaluable way of thinking about your strategy and approach. Here’s what I mean.

Who’s waiting for your kids? In a few short years, they will leave the safety of your home and church and head off to college. Who will they meet? What ideas will they encounter? What moral choices will they face? For most adults, it’s been quite a few years since they’ve set foot on a college campus. Let us bring you up-to-speed on what’s waiting for your kids:

It’s become one of our favorite traditions: bringing in the new year on the YM360 Blog by remembering the highlights of the year that was. As we looked at our analytics from the past year and drilled down to find the most-read posts, we saw that one thing these articles have in common. They deal with the area of Discipleship. This is super encouraging for us, as it shows the amazing passion the YM360 Community has for seeing teenagers draw closer to Christ.

We love equipping you with resources you can trust. Specifically those that will help you teach the Bible well. And pretty much all year long we’re working on the next incredible resource that we can’t wait to share with you. In fact, here’s a sneak peak of some of our upcoming resources. Take a look!

    Our Promise To You

No matter if you’re a customer, a YM360 regular, or just a passing visitor we want to exceed your expectations. We think working with so many youth leaders is the coolest job on the planet, well, besides the one you have! We promise to serve you with great care and excellence. More about that here.
