God is Imaginary – 50 simple proofs, i need a prayer answered.#I

i need a prayer answered

I need a prayer answered

The fact is, God never answers any prayers. The entire idea that “God answers prayers” is an illusion created by human imagination.

How do we know that “answered prayers” are illusions? We simply perform scientific experiments. We ask a group of believers to pray for something and then we watch what happens. What we find, whenever we test the efficacy of prayer scientifically, is that prayer has zero effect:

  • It does not matter who prays.
  • It does not matter if we pray to God, Allah, Vishnu, Zeus, Ra or any other human god.
  • It does not matter what we pray about.

If we perform scientific, double-blind tests on prayer, and if the prayers involve something concrete and measurable (for example, healing people with cancer), we know that there is zero effect from prayer. Every single “answered prayer” is nothing more than a coincidence. Both scientific experiments and your everyday observations of the world show this to be the case every single time.

For example, this article says:

One of the most scientifically rigorous studies yet, published earlier this month, found that the prayers of a distant congregation did not reduce the major complications or death rate in patients hospitalized for heart treatments.

And:

A review of 17 past studies of ”distant healing,” published in 2003 by a British researcher, found no significant effect for prayer or other healing methods.

This article from March, 2006 discusses the fact that the same conclusion was reached in another study:

In the largest study of its kind, researchers found that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had no effect on their recovery. In fact, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a slightly higher rate of complications.

In this article we find an amazing quote where theologians and religious leaders declare that prayer has no actual effect:

Religious leaders will breathe a sigh of relief at the news that so-called intercessory prayer is medically ineffective. In a large and much touted scientific study, one group of patients was told that strangers would pray for them, a second group was told strangers might or might not pray for them, and a third group was not prayed for at all. The $2.4 million study found that the strangers’ prayers did not help patients’ recovery.

This is a remarkable example of “positive spin” — religious leaders are “breathing a sigh of relief” because prayer has been shown to be meaningless. The fact that prayer is a total waste of time does not matter to them. It does not matter that all of Jesus’ promises about prayer in the Bible have been proven completely false.

A peer-reviewed scientific study published in 2001 did indicate that prayer works. According to this article:

“On October 2, 2001, the New York Times reported that researchers at prestigious Columbia University Medical Center in New York had discovered something quite extraordinary. Using virtually foolproof scientific methods the researchers had demonstrated that infertile women who were prayed for by Christian prayer groups became pregnant twice as often as those who did not have people praying for them. The study was published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine. Even the researchers were shocked. The study’s results could only be described as miraculous.”

This study was later proven to be completely fraudulent. However, everyone who cut out the original article in the NYTimes and posted it on their refrigerators still has that article as “proof” that prayer works.

This article entitled A prayer before dying uncovers another case where a “scientific study” of prayer is unmasked as fraudulent.

It’s not just prayer that is ineffective. Not even a hopeful attitude helps. According to this article:

A positive attitude does not improve the chances of surviving cancer and doctors who encourage patients to keep up hope may be burdening them, according to the results of research released Monday.

The dictionary defines the word “superstition” in this way:

An irrational belief that an object, action, or circumstance not logically related to a course of events influences its outcome. [ref]

The belief in prayer is a superstition. It has been proven scientifically over and over again. When a prayer appears to be answered, it is a coincidence. Quite simply, prayer has absolutely no effect on the outcome of any event. The “power of prayer” is actually “the power of coincidence.”

Therefore, as in Proof #1, one of two things must be happening:

  • God is imaginary.
  • God does exist, but he never answers prayers. Unfortunately, God is defined by the Bible to be a prayer-answering being. The contradiction between the reality of God and the definition of God proves that God is imaginary.

Prayer does not work because God is completely imaginary.

You can find many believers who will say, “The reason why scientific experiments fail to detect God is because God must remain hidden. He does not answer prayers if he knows that he will be detected.”

In order to see the truth, you need to accept that this explanation is silly. If God must remain hidden, then he cannot answer any prayers. Any “answered prayer” would expose God.

The whole notion that “God” must remain “hidden” is a total cross-threading of religious doctrine. On the one hand, believers will say that “God wrote the Bible, God incarnated himself and died on the cross for us, and God answers millions of prayers on earth every day.” Then in the next breath they will say, “God must remain hidden.” God obviously cannot “remain hidden” and “incarnate himself.” These two items are mutually exclusive. Therefore, the explanation that “God must remain hidden” is impossible. As soon as you accept how impossible it is, you can begin to see see that God is imaginary.

In order to see the truth, you need to accept the fact that the scientific evidence is accurate and irrefutable. We have scientifically proven that God does not answer any prayers on earth. Every single “answered prayer” is nothing more than a coincidence.

We can see reality by looking at a simple example. Imagine that the rate of remission for some particularly nasty type of cancer is 5%. That means that if 20 people get this type of cancer, it is almost always fatal. Only one in twenty of the people who get the disease will survive. Knowing this, you can see what happens if we actually analyze prayer:

  • 20 believers contract the disease
  • All of them have read James 5:15, so all of them pray.
  • 19 of them die
  • The one who lives proclaims, “I prayed to the Lord and the Lord answered my prayers! My disease is cured! It is a miracle! I KNEW God would answer my prayers!”
  • You never hear about the 19 who died. No one ever writes about them in a magazine. “Person prays, then dies” is not a great headline. And since they are dead, you will never hear from any of these people.
  • Therefore, if you don’t look at all the facts around the “answered prayer,” and you only hear about the one out of twenty prayers that succeed, it appears that prayer is successful.

The fact is, believers who pray die from this disease at exactly the same rate as people who do not.

We can see the reality of this situation simply by opening our eyes and looking at the data. But we do have to open our eyes — We have to look at both the successes AND the failures of prayer to see the reality of our world. When we take a scientific approach and we do look at both sides, we see what is really happening. God does not answer any prayers because God is imaginary.

Do not worry saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ . Your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:31-33)

As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13:34

The Lord’s Prayer is the model of prayer that Jesus taught us, as recorded in the gospels of Matthew and Luke.

It is presented here in traditional and modern language – Matthew 6:9-13

hallowed be thy name.

Thy Kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name.

Your Kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins,

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours.

Now and for ever.

(from the Netherlands)

(instrumental with two voices)

Respond to God, not your circumstances – When faced with a painful or difficult circumstance, ask God,

“How do you want me to respond to this?” Keep your eyes open to the “Why me” traps that lie about your circumstances. (author unknown)

What a Wonderful Savior (SDA Hymnal #335); Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing (SDA Hymnal #334); There Is a Fountain (SDA Hymnal #336); Jesus Saves (SDA Hymnal #340); Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (SDA Hymnal #290); Take the World, but Give Me Jesus (SDA Hymnal #329); I Will Sing of My Redeemer (SDA Hymnal #343).

The Robe is a symbol of Christ s righteousness that covers our nakedness when we accept it.

All that have put on the robe of Christ s righteousness will stand before Him as chosen and faithful and true. Satan has no power to pluck them out of the hand of Christ. Not one soul that in penitence and faith has claimed His protection will Christ permit to pass under the enemy s power. His word is pledged: Let him take hold of My strength, that he may make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me. Isaiah 27:5. The promise given to Joshua is made to all: If thou wilt keep My charge, . . . I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by. Zechariah 3:7. Angels of God will walk on either side of them, even in this world, and they will stand at last among the angels that surround the throne of God. (Counsels for the Church, pp. 351, 352) It is the righteousness of Christ that makes the penitent sinner acceptable to God and works his justification. However sinful has been his life, if he believes in Jesus as his personal Saviour, he stands before God in the spotless robes of Christ s imputed righteousness. (Faith and Works, p. 106) And be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith. (Philippians 3:9) The sinner so recently dead in trespasses and sins is quickened by faith in Christ. He sees by faith that Jesus is his Saviour, and alive forevermore, able to save unto the uttermost [all] that come unto God by Him. In the atonement made for him the believer sees such breadth and length and height and depth of efficiency sees such completeness of salvation, purchased at such infinite cost, that his soul is filled with praise and thanksgiving. He sees as in a glass the glory of the Lord and is changed into the same image as by the Spirit of the Lord. He sees the robe of Christ s righteousness, woven in the loom of heaven, wrought by his obedience, and imputed to the repenting soul through faith in His name. When the sinner has a view of the matchless charms of Jesus, sin no longer looks attractive to him; for he beholds the Chiefest among ten thousand, the One altogether lovely. He realizes by a personal experience the power of the gospel, whose vastness of design is equaled only by its preciousness of purpose. (Faith and Works, pp. 106, 107) As the people of God afflict their souls before Him, pleading for purity of heart, the command is given, Take away the filthy garments from them, and the encouraging words are spoken, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. The spotless robe of Christ s righteousness is placed upon the tried, tempted, yet faithful children of God. The despised remnant are clothed in glorious apparel, nevermore to be defiled by the corruptions of the world. Their names are retained in the Lamb s book of life, enrolled among the faithful of all ages. They have resisted the wiles of the deceiver; they have not been turned from their loyalty by the dragon s roar. Now they are eternally secure from the tempter s devices. Their sins are transferred to the originator of sin. (Counsels for the Church, p. 353) A general faith is not enough. We must put on the robe of Christ s righteousness and wear it openly, bravely, decidedly, exhibiting Christ, and not expect too much of finite man, but keep looking unto Jesus, and become ravished with the perfections of His character. Then we shall individually make manifest the character of Jesus, and make it evident that we are invigorated by the truth; because it sanctifies the soul and brings into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. (Reflecting Christ, p. 108) The truly righteous, who sincerely love and fear God, wear the robe of Christ s righteousness in prosperity and adversity alike. Self-denial, selfsacrifice, benevolence, kindness, love, patience, fortitude, and Christian trust are the daily fruits borne by those who are truly connected with God. Their acts may not be published to the world, but they themselves are daily wrestling with evil, and gaining precious victories over temptation and wrong. (God s Amazing Grace, p. 31) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24, ESV) Each one will have a close struggle to overcome sin in his own heart. This is at times a very painful and discouraging work; because, as we see the deformities in our character, we keep looking at them, when we should look to Jesus and put on the robe of His righteousness. Everyone who enters the pearly gates of the city of God will enter there as a conqueror, and his greatest conquest will have been the conquest of self. (God s Amazing Grace, p. 31) He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name s sake. (Psalm 23:3, KJV)

Why Do Some Prayers Take a Long Time to Be Answered? Kenneth

Prayer : Learn

I need a prayer answered

The Bible tells us God is Love. And in page after page, we see the countless demonstrations of His great love. We read of His compassion and promises, and we see His willingness to use awesome power on behalf of His people. God is faithful—to His people, and to His Word.

There are times, however, when we as the very chosen of God tend to rely on our five physical senses to decide whether He is really “out there” and whether He is hearing and answering our prayers. Once we pray our prayers, all too often it’s easy to look around for physical evidence and then believe for what we prayed.

In effect, when we do that, it’s like trying to see with our ears or hear with our noses. We must determine even before we pray that any physical evidence contrary to what we pray will not sway us into doubt and unbelief. We need to realize that the evidence—God’s Word—upon which our faith rests is far more reliable than what we can see. Regardless of physical evidence, the Word is perfect!

That’s the truth of the matter, but sometimes it does help to have some practical guidelines to keep us within the bounds of truth. So, the following seven steps are suggested as guidelines to help you in your determined walk of faith when it comes to your prayers and how to wait in faith for them to be answered.

1 John 3:22, 5:14-15; John 15:7; Romans 12:2

Prayer that brings results must be based on God’s Word. We should start with the answers to our prayers—the Word. Jesus said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7). The Bible contains over 7,000 promises—promises which include wealth and wisdom, health and success. Finding the specific promises that apply to your situation is well worth the effort. Several are listed at the end of this article.

James 2:14-24, 3:11-17; Romans 3:4; Hebrews 4:11-16

Start your confession of faith before you see the manifestation of answers to your prayers. Believe you receive when you pray. Hold fast to your confession by acting as though it were already done. To be afraid to confess or act before you have it is to doubt God’s Word.

2 Corinthians 10:5

Refuse to allow doubt and fear to enter your consciousness. Satan will tell you that your answers are not coming. But take those whispers of doubt captive. You have the right and power to demolish every argument that comes against the knowledge of God’s Word.

So control your mind with the Word and dwell on the answer instead of the problem.

Proverbs 4:20-24; Matthew 6:22-23, 13:15-16; Romans 13:14

See yourself through the Word—as a success, not a failure.

Testify of what you believe. Testify of the Word. Add your testimony to what you have received by the blood—your redemption. You have the rights to all that Jesus did.

Galatians 5:6; 1 John 4:12

Faith works when we operate in the love of God. Get involved in helping someone. As you adhere to the message of God’s love, His love will flow from you to others.

Luke 6:38; James 5:16; Mark 4:14-29; Acts 20:35

Get on the giving end. If you need healing, give the message of healing to someone else. If you need money, give money. It’s God’s law—you will reap what you sow. The way you measure out is the way it will be measured back to you.

Need some help finding scriptures that cover your need? Here are a few to get you started.

Promises for your unsaved loved ones:

Promises for your children:

Psalm 8:2, 91:11-12, 127:3-5; Proverbs 3:1-4, 22:6; Isaiah 44:3, 49:25, 54:13; Colossians 3:20; 2 Timothy 3:15

Prevailing Intercessory Prayer: Testimonies of Answered Prayer, i need a prayer answered.#I

i need a prayer answered

I half-heartedly prayed that if it were God s will, a reunion would take place and then I forgot and gave up too. Sometime later there was a boy riding his bike around Australia. Choosing an unlikely inland route, he had the misfortune of a flat tire. This happened right outside my parents place 5 kilometres south of Nanango, Queensland. He almost went unnoticed when he walked into their little wood-working gallery but by chance my sister Karla caught him as he walked back out the door. She drove him into town to have his bike repaired, and as he had to wait overnight he camped in her back yard. The boy was American and for some unknown reason my sister asked him, Do you know Virgil Nedium Hale? His surprising response – Yes I do believe he is the minister at my Grandmother s church in Lebanon, Virginia. . (Read the rest of this marvelous testimony. )

Sale of Home in Florida in spite of the subprime problems! 5/2008

Ben is a close friend and prayer partner. Ben has been walking with Jesus ever since he was miraculously healed as a teenager. Over the years he has been healed, provided for financially, led to people that were needed godly attention, etc., in ways that prove without a doubt that God is alive and loves to care for his children.

August Francke was used by God to establish an amazing ministry in Halle Germany in the late 1600s. Before he died he had established an orphanage that cared for 2,000 children, a publishing ministry, multiple schools, and a medical work. He never asked anyone directly for funds, preferring to ask God to send the funds when he prayed. Francke was inspired George M ller to start his orphanage in Bristol England 150 years later.

Testimonies on Overcoming Depression

It was in those dark trials that God s love became real in my life. In my depression I realized that nothing I tried to do would ever break me free from the shadows that held me captive. Sure, I tried to do it on my own over and over again but always found myself further into the darkness than before. On my own strength I was powerless to change. It was only then that I truly understood my overwhelming need for God.

Self-Injury and BPD: Overcoming It A touching story of how Isaiah 53 brought a miracle.

Being at rock bottom means different things to different people, but for me it meant being collapsed in a heap on my bathroom floor, a knife in my hand, and my blood splashed on the walls, on the floor, and all over my clothes.

In a ceremony performed in my bedroom, I wrote a contract to Satan in my own blood, telling him that I would give him my soul if he would reduce my height. I had four candles burning on a pentagram and I went to sleep without putting them out. Two of the candles burned through to the carpet, setting it on fire, and as my duvet was just about to be set alight, I woke up.

Before we were scheduled to leave for South Korea, we still owed $12,000 in student loans! Things were not going as we had expected, but we settled in our hearts to trust in God s will for our family even if it meant not returning to South Korea. Then our Heavenly Father sent Tamika again. She reminded me of James 2:17, Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. This was tough medicine, but as I thought about our situation I realized that we had been so focused on praying and soliciting the prayers of others that we failed to add any works to our faith. But God is so merciful to His children. Monday morning, Brent was impressed to add works to his faith and after breakfast he left the house going to talk to a friend about helping him with his loans. Shortly after Brent left, the Lord told me to start packing and cleaning. This was a strange command, but I obeyed. Around lunchtime there was a knock at the door. It was Tamika and her family. She came by to pray with me, encourage me with promises from the Bible, say farewell, and give me some money for our trip. (Read the entire testimony)

Preparing for shopping on the Thursday afternoon I calculated what money I would have left after paying tithe, bills etc. I had checked the balance only a few days ago with no job my savings had dwindled to around $30-$40 I knew I had no other funds coming in or so I thought? After morning worship my husband and I started to go through the accounts. We quickly realized, I had payed an outstanding bill through the week and accidentally not left enough money to pay tithe. This left a big ache in our stomaches and we tried to think of how we could put together around $70 dollars, impossible. GOD MOVES IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS. After we did a little flapping about my husband was checking the balances of all the accounts on the automated phone service and to our surprise and delight there was an unexplainable $200 something in MY account? We floated to church that week, we could pay tithe and eat. I think of that scripture Your bread and water shall be sure The mystery was cleared up a week later when I received a pay slip from a locum position I had done some SIX months ago. It was for 5.4 hours of work. I sure can t remember that far back. I am so glad my Father in heaven remembers me though. AMEN. From Australia

The Secret to Powerful Prayer – How God Answers Prayers, i need

i need a prayer answered

The secret to effective prayer is faith in Jesus Christ and absolute trust in the Word He has spoken.

This is my commandment: love one another, as I have loved you.

and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last;

and then the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.

What I command you is to love one another.

We cannot truly love one another if we harbor bitterness in our hearts. This is why we must release such bonds, and the way we release them is through the action of forgiveness in prayer.

Increasing the Power of Prayer

1. Pray to God in the name of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

2. Surrender your problem entirely to God.

3. Your release should be total and complete.

4. Be humble. This is why many kneel.

5. Forgive all your enemies by name.

6. Have faith. Do not doubt.

7. Know that your prayer has already been answered.

8. Have patience. God is granting a perfect fulfillment.

9. Do not impose limitations which restrict God’s answer.

10. Thank God in advance and praise Him.

11. Pray in a group of at least 2 or 3.

12. Petition church prayer groups to include your prayers.

13. Encourage small children to also pray.

14. Do not discourage prayer in tongues.

15. Persist. Do not give up.

Confess your sins to God.

Repent in earnest

And if you have not aleady done so,

Commit your life to Christ.

Answered Prayer

I need a prayer answered

We thank God for these answered prayer requests and hope that they will encourage your faith to trust Him with all your needs.

Hallie, Marilyn and Sarah were praying against cancer on their program. Hallie had a knot (lump) on her hand that had been there for many years. The doctors said it was skin cancer. Hallie didn’t have the resources for continued medical treatment. She came into agreement prayer with Marilyn and Sarah and suddenly the lump disappeared on her hand as they were praying. She returned to the doctor and received confirmation that her hand was healed.

Louise, called for prayer for her husband. The doctors said he needed a heart transplant. After prayer, Louise informed us that the doctors said he doesn’t need the surgery. He is healed!

Jaiah, was going through depression and almost to the point of ‘giving up’. There were problems in his family and church that were ‘insurmountable’. While watching the program each day, he felt renewed hope and encouragement to his heart and mind. He said, “Marilyn and Sarah’s enthusiasm and knowledge of the Word of God revived me and increased my faith to believe and to put my trust in God.” He attributes his victory over depression toward watching Today with Marilyn and Sarah.

Shirley, one day Marilyn and Sarah were praying for those who had diabetes. Shirley’s sugar/glucose level was between 300-400. She placed her hand on the TV and felt warmth all throughout her body and ‘knew something was happening in her body’. She returned to the doctor and it was confirmed, she was healed and her pancreas and insulin/glucose levels are normal.

LaDonna, attributes the following testimony toward being a Partner with Marilyn Hickey Ministries. There had been many problems in the family that caused a division between her and her daughter. Her daughter moved away with the grandchildren and LaDonna didn’t know their whereabouts for over 7 years. Meanwhile, she started watching the program on a daily basis and was encouraged by the ministry and mission outreaches all over the world. She decided to become a partner and support Marilyn Hickey Ministries’ endeavors. Less than one month after becoming a Partner, she found a note taped to her door with a phone number written on it to call. She called the number and, much to her surprise, was rejoined with her family. There are still some issues that need to be worked out, but she attributes this miraculous reunion to Marilyn and Sarah and their prayers for their Partners!

Barbara, on the program, Sarah prayed for those with back troubles, and Barbara noticed later on that her back was healed and on her birthday!

Beverly, while watching Marilyn teach on forgiveness and let go of bitterness on the program, Beverly was instantly able to forgive and let go of bitterness and has a new joy in the Lord.

Linda, had called for prayer for her son’s healing from heart surgery on the aorta. His heart stopped twice after the surgery, but was able to be revived. He is now at home and doing well.

How My Deceased Mother Answered My Father – s Desperate Prayer in

How My Deceased Mother Answered My Father s Desperate Prayer in a Dream

Shortly after my mother committed suicide by setting our home on fire, my father, younger brothers, and I temporarily moved with my aunt and her family.

Then another catastrophe came a few weeks later when a hail storm with golf ball-sized hail ripped through the family farm decimating my father’s potato crop. My father became a modern-day Job.

A few days later, I walked into the kitchen one morning and found my father sobbing at the kitchen bar. He was trying to muffle his painful sobs in his weathered farmer hands. He could barely speak to me as he was gasping for air.

He said the night before, he had read the following passage of scripture in Matthew 7:7: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

He said he then knelt by his bed and pleaded for answers from God. “God, you took my wife away. And then you took my house. Now you’ve taken my crop. Why? What am I supposed to do?” My father then fell asleep and had the following dream: I found myself looking into a room filled with garbage and filth. Water began to flood the room and eventually washed the garbage and debris completely out. What was left, was a clean room that had no evidence of ever being dirty. I was then taken to our home and found your mother standing next to me on the front porch. The house was back to normal and a feeling of joy and peace was present. We were both in our twenties again. We were twitterepated and in love and the excitement that we first felt when we were dating all came back. It was the feelings of why we got married. Your mother then grabbed my hand and started to walk with me. I then stopped walking and in disbelief said to her “Wait, you’re dead. Why did you do this to us? What are we supposed to do?” With much grief in her face, she replied, “I am so sorry. But everything is going to work out.” I then collapsed into your mother’s lap and I sobbed as she held me. And then woke up and found myself sobbing into my pillow.

My father then explained his interpretation of what he just saw. My mother’s emotional health crippled her personality and her ability to safely love. It changed her as a person and robbed her of the person she once was.

The garbage and debris in that room represented all of the bad memories. The times when my mother was not in her right mind. The times of her yelling and screaming and suicide attempts. The times she said she hated my father and she became nearly an impossible person to love.

The water represented the Savior’s Atonement and His perfect ability to cleanse and make our lives whole again. And then the tender mercy of God in allowing my father to experience one last time the reason why he married my mother and to see her for the person she truly is.

Several of my siblings and I had dreams too where our mother appeared to us just once. Her messages we’re always short but tailored to our pleadings for comfort.

I believe in an afterlife with people who are concerned for us and a God who is pained when we are pained. I’ve had to draw on these experiences to remind me of God’s love.

Question: How does one perform the prayer of need (salat al-haja)?

Answer: In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, and all blessings and peace upon our master Muhammad, his Folk, Companions and those who follow their noble way,

Abullah ibn Abi Awfa (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Whoever has a need with Allah, or with any human being, then let them perform ritual ablutions well and then pray two rakats. After that, let them praise Allah and send blessings on the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace). After this, let them say,

There there no god but Allah the Clement and Wise.

There is no god but Allah the High and Mighty.

Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Tremendous Throne.

All praise is to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

I ask you (O Allah) everything that leads to your mercy, and your tremendous forgiveness, enrichment in all good, and freedom from all sin.

Do not leave a sin of mine (O Allah), except that you forgive it, nor any concern except that you create for it an opening, nor any need in which there is your good pleasure except that you fulfill it, O Most Merciful!

[Related by Tirmidhi and Ibn Maja. The hadith has some weakness, but it is slight: such hadiths are acted upon for virtuous deeds (fada’il al-a`mal) by general agreement of Sunni scholarship]

The prayer of need is very simple: It is essentially to raise one s need to Allah Most High, by performing ritual ablution (wudu), praying 2 rakats (or four), and then making whole-hearted dua to Allah. If one uses the abovementioned Prophetic supplication, or other similar supplications transmitted from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), it is best. [Ibrahim al-Halabi, Sharh Munyat al-Musalli; al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya; Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

The inward manners of supplication is exhibiting our neediness and absolute slavehood to Allah, consigning one s matters to Allah, and knowing that the only one who gives or benefits is Allah Most High. With this, one should be certain that Allah Most High answers our duas, but in the way He knows is best for us.

When circumstances do not permit us to pray 2 rakats, one should still turn to Allah in supplication, raising one’s needs to Him, for He answers our supplications and loves being asked.

And Allah alone gives success.
