WRITING A SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ARTICLE, answer any question.#Answer #any #question

WRITING A SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ARTICLE

Scientific research articles provide a method for scientists to communicate with other scientists about the results of their research. A standard format is used for these articles, in which the author presents the research in an orderly, logical manner. This doesn’t necessarily reflect the order in which you did or thought about the work. This format is:

  1. Make your title specific enough to describe the contents of the paper, but not so technical that only specialists will understand. The title should be appropriate for the intended audience.
  2. The title usually describes the subject matter of the article: Effect of Smoking on Academic Performance
  3. Sometimes a title that summarizes the results is more effective: Students Who Smoke Get Lower Grades

1. The person who did the work and wrote the paper is generally listed as the first author of a research paper.

2. For published articles, other people who made substantial contributions to the work are also listed as authors. Ask your mentor’s permission before including his/her name as co-author.

1. An abstract, or summary, is published together with a research article, giving the reader a preview of what’s to come. Such abstracts may also be published separately in bibliographical sources, such as Biologic al Abstracts. They allow other scientists to quickly scan the large scientific literature, and decide which articles they want to read in depth. The abstract should be a little less technical than the article itself; you don’t want to dissuade your potent ial audience from reading your paper.

2. Your abstract should be one paragraph, of 100-250 words, which summarizes the purpose, methods, results and conclusions of the paper.

3. It is not easy to include all this information in just a few words. Start by writing a summary that includes whatever you think is important, and then gradually prune it down to size by removing unnecessary words, while still retaini ng the necessary concepts.

3. Don’t use abbreviations or citations in the abstract. It should be able to stand alone without any footnotes.

What question did you ask in your experiment? Why is it interesting? The introduction summarizes the relevant literature so that the reader will understand why you were interested in the question you asked. One to fo ur paragraphs should be enough. End with a sentence explaining the specific question you asked in this experiment.

1. How did you answer this question? There should be enough information here to allow another scientist to repeat your experiment. Look at other papers that have been published in your field to get some idea of what is included in this section.

2. If you had a complicated protocol, it may helpful to include a diagram, table or flowchart to explain the methods you used.

3. Do not put results in this section. You may, however, include preliminary results that were used to design the main experiment that you are reporting on. ( In a preliminary study, I observed the owls for one week, and found that 73 % of their locomotor activity occurred during the night, and so I conducted all subsequent experiments between 11 pm and 6 am. )

4. Mention relevant ethical considerations. If you used human subjects, did they consent to participate. If you used animals, what measures did you take to minimize pain?

1. This is where you present the results you’ve gotten. Use graphs and tables if appropriate, but also summarize your main findings in the text. Do NOT discuss the results or speculate as to why something happened; t hat goes in th e Discussion.

2. You don’t necessarily have to include all the data you’ve gotten during the semester. This isn’t a diary.

3. Use appropriate methods of showing data. Don’t try to manipulate the data to make it look like you did more than you actually did.

The drug cured 1/3 of the infected mice, another 1/3 were not affected, and the third mouse got away.

1. If you present your data in a table or graph, include a title describing what’s in the table ( Enzyme activity at various temperatures , not My results .) For graphs, you should also label the x and y axes.

2. Don’t use a table or graph just to be fancy . If you can summarize the information in one sentence, then a table or graph is not necessary.

1. Highlight the most significant results, but don’t just repeat what you’ve written in the Results section. How do these results relate to the original question? Do the data support your hypothesis? Are your results consistent with what other investigators have reported? If your results were unexpected, try to explain why. Is there another way to interpret your results? What further research would be necessary to answer the questions raised by your results? How do y our results fit into the big picture?

2. End with a one-sentence summary of your conclusion, emphasizing why it is relevant.

This section is optional. You can thank those who either helped with the experiments, or made other important contributions, such as discussing the protocol, commenting on the manuscript, or buying you pizza.

There are several possible ways to organize this section. Here is one commonly used way:

1. In the text, cite the literature in the appropriate places:

Scarlet (1990) thought that the gene was present only in yeast, but it has since been identified in the platypus (Indigo and Mauve, 1994) and wombat (Magenta, et al., 1995).

2. In the References section list citations in alphabetical order.

In my writing, I average about ten pages a day. Unfortunately, they’re all the same page.

Michael Alley, The Craft of Scientific Writing

A major part of any writing assignment consists of re-writing.

Write accurately

  1. Scientific writing must be accurate. Although writing instructors may tell you not to use the same word twice in a sentence, it’s okay for scientific writing, which must be accurate. (A student who tried not to repeat the word hamster produced this confusing sentence: When I put the hamster in a cage with the other animals, the little mammals began to play. )
  2. Make sure you say what you mean.

Instead of: The rats were injected with the drug. (sounds like a syringe was filled with drug and ground-up rats and both were injected together)

Write: I injected the drug into the rat.

  • Be careful with commonly confused words:
  • Temperature has an effect on the reaction.

    Temperature affects the reaction.

    I used solutions in various concentrations. (The solutions were 5 mg/ml, 10 mg/ml, and 15 mg/ml)

I used solutions in varying concentrations. (The concentrations I used changed; sometimes they were 5 mg/ml, other times they were 15 mg/ml.)

Less food (can’t count numbers of food)

Fewer animals (can count numbers of animals)

A large amount of food (can’t count them)

A large number of animals (can count them)

The erythrocytes, which are in the blood, contain hemoglobin.

The erythrocytes that are in the blood contain hemoglobin. (Wrong. This sentence implies that there are erythrocytes elsewhere that don’t contain hemoglobin.)

    1. Write at a level that’s appropriate for your audience.

Like a pigeon, something to admire as long as it isn’t over your head. Anonymous

    2. Use the active voice. It’s clearer and more concise than the passive voice.

Instead of: An increased appetite was manifested by the rats and an increase in body weight was measured.

Write: The rats ate more and gained weight.

    3. Use the first person.

    Instead of: It is thought

Instead of: The samples were analyzed

    Write: I analyzed the samples

    4. Avoid dangling participles.

After incubating at 30 degrees C, we examined the petri plates. (You must’ve been pretty warm in there.)

    1. Use verbs instead of abstract nouns

    Instead of: take into consideration

    2. Use strong verbs instead of to be

Instead of: The enzyme was found to be the active agent in catalyzing.

    Write: The enzyme catalyzed.

    3. Use short words.

I would never use a long word where a short one would answer the purpose. I know there are professors in this country who ‘ligate’ arteries. Other surgeons tie them, and it stops the bleeding just as well.

                  Southern Motocross, answer motocross.#Answer #motocross

                  answer motocross

                  Answer motocross

Southern Moto Cross club was started because I (Tony Ford) had an argument with a South Eastern Centre ACU club over the way they ran meetings, and treated the riders. The club in question’s answer was “If you can do better do it yourself”. I then rang the AMCA to ask to join them, and was told as I had an ACU licence I would have to wait until January the following year to join them, my response was you’re as stupid as the ACU, not diplomatic but true.

The Club started life in November 1981 and started running events on January 3rd 1982. Our aim was to give the rider a good days sport with the minimum of fuss and treat every standard of rider equally. It seems to have worked as we have a very happy atmosphere at all events.

We instigated many innovations, for instance entry on the day at most events, riders paying a fee so that marshals could be paid expenses paying a standard amount to pay paramedics fees.

In 1982, total club membership was 156. By 2001 it was nearly 400 and over 500 in 2006

Twenty years ago we had become too successful so that although we were affiliated to the ACU a cartel of clubs got together to try force the centres to restrict our events to two Sundays a month. They wouldn’t admit it was because they needed to run better events to compete with SMX. I obviously wasn’t happy about that, so I got together with Reg Slack, a good friend who owned Matchams, and we formed ORPA. Reg had good contacts in insurance as well as a good solicitor, who advised on the restrictive practices acts. These were used to force the ACU to change their rules, and recognise ORPA and allow riders and officials the freedom of movement between the organisations, that we take for granted today.

In this first year we used eight different tracks, it was unheard of in those days for clubs to have more than two or three tracks. The second year we took on six more tracks and we have never looked back since. Although we have dropped some and taken on others, we have regularly used around eight or more tracks each year.

Five of these tracks are permanently erected, which makes my life a lot easier. All permanent tracks are graded regularly now, whereas in the early days tracks were only graded once or twice a year. Also in the early days, there were only one or two jumps on tracks, now there are usually at least six, and often ten or more (except for the stubble field events that we run each year).

All the permanent tracks are ditched and piped so keeping them useable during the winter.

Normal events consist of a series of heats with riders then graded into groups on ability, with trophies being awarded down to sixth place in each group.

We also run several ten round championships :

125s, 250s 500s. These are twenty minute races run before the main programme gets going.

Over 40s/50s/60s/70s. These comprise three races the first a scratch race, a handicap on based on riders age and finally a handicap based on ability. This levels the playing field, encouraging the older rider to carry on competing.

We also have machine age based classes, Pre-85, Pre-95 Pre-05. In these there is a scratch race, a machine age handicap and an ability handicap. This championship encourages the use of older machines as well.

The ladies are not forgotten nor are the non expert four stroke fanatics all who have similar handicap systems in their championships.

The Main and Support championships, the clubs premier competitions, are for members who qualify for A group, with all A group races throughout the year counting. The top ten in each championship qualify for the next year’s Main championship. To win either of these championships requires complete dedication over the 50+ meetings organised each year.

Also, annually we run the British Veterans GP (first Sunday in October) and the ORPA Adult British Clubmans Championship (first weekend in May).

We have run approximately 1400 meetings over the last twenty eight years, give me another twenty and I just might get the hang of it .

What is the maximum length of a URL in different browsers? Stack Overflow, answer any question.#Answer #any #question

                  answer any question

If you keep URLs under 2000 characters, they’ll work in virtually any combination of client and server software.

If you are targeting particular browsers, see below for more details specific limits.

Longer answer – first, the standards.

RFC 2616 (Hypertext Transfer Protocol HTTP/1.1) section 3.2.1 says

The HTTP protocol does not place any a priori limit on the length of a URI. Servers MUST be able to handle the URI of any resource they serve, and SHOULD be able to handle URIs of unbounded length if they provide GET-based forms that could generate such URIs. A server SHOULD return 414 (Request-URI Too Long) status if a URI is longer than the server can handle (see section 10.4.15).

That RFC has been obsoleted by RFC7230 which is a refresh of the HTTP/1.1 specification. It contains similar language, but also goes on to suggest this:

Various ad hoc limitations on request-line length are found in practice. It is RECOMMENDED that all HTTP senders and recipients support, at a minimum, request-line lengths of 8000 octets.

                  . and the reality

That’s what the standards say. For the reality, see this research over at boutell.com to see what individual browser and server implementations will support. It’s worth a read, but the executive summary is:

Extremely long URLs are usually a mistake. URLs over 2,000 characters will not work in the most popular web browsers. Don’t use them if you intend your site to work for the majority of Internet users.

(Note: this is a quote from an article written in 2006, but in 2015 IE’s declining usage means that longer URLs do work for the majority. However, IE still has the limitation. )

                  Internet Explorer’s limitations.

I’ve tested IE10 and the address bar will only accept 2083 chars. You can click a URL which is longer than this, but the address bar will still only show 2083 characters of this link.

There’s a nice writeup on the IE Internals blog which goes into some of the background to this.

There are mixed reports IE11 supports longer URLS – see comments below. Given some people report issues, the general advice still stands.

Search engines like URLs 2048 chars.

Be aware that the sitemaps protocol, which allows a site to inform search engines about available pages, has a limit of 2048 characters in a URL. If you intend to use sitemaps, a limit has been decided for you! (see Calin-Andrei Burloiu’s answer below)

There’s also some research from 2010 into the maximum URL length that search engines will crawl and index. They found the limit was 2047 chars, which appears allied to the sitemap protocol spec. However, they also found the Google SERP tool wouldn’t cope with URLs longer than 1855 chars.

                  Additional browser roundup

I tested the following against an Apache 2.4 server configured with a very large LimitRequestLine and LimitRequestFieldSize.

See also this answer from Matas Vaitkevicius below.

Is this information up to date?

This is a popular question, and as the original research is

9 years old I’ll try to keep it up to date: As of Sep 2017, the advice still stands. Even though IE11 may possibly accept longer URLs, the ubiquity of older IE installations plus the search engine limitations mean staying under 2000 chars is the best general policy.

WWW FAQs: What is the maximum length of a URL? has its own answer based on empirical testing and research. The short answer is that going over 2048 characters makes Internet Explorer unhappy and thus this is the limit you should use. See the page for a long answer.

                  Answer any question

The longest URLs I came across are data URLs

Example image URL from Google image results (11747 characters)

I wrote this test that keeps on adding ‘a’ to parameter until the browser fails

                  On Chrome I got:

                  It then blew up with:

HTTP Error 404.15 – Not Found The request filtering module is configured to deny a request where the query string is too long.

Same on Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox

I went easy mode and added additional limits to IISExpress applicationhost.config and web.config setting maxQueryStringLength=”32768″ .

                  after 7744 characters.

which didn’t help at all. I finally decided to use fiddler to remove the referrer from header.

                  Which did nicely.

Chrome: got to 15613 characters. (I guess it’s a 16K limit for IIS)

                  And it failed again with:

Internet Explorer 8 failed with iexplore.exe crashing.

                  Answer any question

                  Answer any question

There is really no universal maximum URL length. The max length is determined only by what the client browser chooses to support, which varies widely. The 2,083 limit is only present in Internet Explorer (all versions up to 7.0). The max length in Firefox and Safari seems to be unlimited, although instability occurs with URLs reaching around 65,000 characters. Opera seems to have no max URL length whatsoever, and doesn’t suffer instability at extremely long lengths.

The URI RFC (of which URLs are a subset) doesn’t define a maximum length, however, it does recommend that the hostname part of the URI (if applicable) not exceed 255 characters in length:

URI producers should use names that conform to the DNS syntax, even when use of DNS is not immediately apparent, and should limit these names to no more than 255 characters in length.

As noted in other posts though, some browsers have a practical limitation on the length of a URL.

URIs in HTTP can be represented in absolute form or relative to some

known base URI [11], depending upon the context of their use. The two

forms are differentiated by the fact that absolute URIs always begin

with a scheme name followed by a colon. For definitive information on

URL syntax and semantics, see “Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI): Generic Syntax and Semantics,” RFC 2396 [42] (which replaces RFCs 1738 [4] and RFC 1808 [11]). This specification adopts the definitions of “URI-reference”, “absoluteURI”, “relativeURI”, “port”,

“host”,”abs_path”, “rel_path”, and “authority” from that

The HTTP protocol does not place any a priori limit on the length of

a URI. Servers MUST be able to handle the URI of any resource they serve, and SHOULD be able to handle URIs of unbounded length if they provide GET-based forms that could generate such URIs.* A server SHOULD return 414 (Request-URI Too Long) status if a URI is longer than the server can handle (see section 10.4.15).

Note: Servers ought to be cautious about depending on URI lengths above 255 bytes, because some older client or proxy implementations might not properly support these lengths.

Major Blow to Obamacare Mandate: IRS Won – t Reject Tax Returns That Don – t Answer Health Insurance Question – Hit – Run, answer any question.#Answer #any #question

                  HIT RUN BLOG

The tax agency has stopped requiring individual filers to indicate whether they maintained health coverage or paid the mandate penalty as required under the law

Answer any questionCredit – Olivier Douliery/UPI/Newscom How much difference does a single line on a tax form make? For Obamacare’s individual mandate, the answer might be quite a lot.

Following President Donald Trump’s executive order instructing agencies to provide relief from the health law, the Internal Revenue Service appears to be taking a more lax approach to the coverage requirement.

The health law’s individual mandate requires everyone to either maintain qualifying health coverage or pay a tax penalty, known as a “shared responsibility payment.” The IRS was set to require filers to indicate whether they had maintained coverage in 2016 or paid the penalty by filling out line 61 on their form 1040s. Alternatively, they could claim exemption from the mandate by filing a form 8965.

For most filers, filling out line 61 would be mandatory. The IRS would not accept 1040s unless the coverage box was checked, or the shared responsibility payment noted, or the exemption form included. Otherwise they would be labeled “silent returns” and rejected.

Instead, however, filling out that line will be optional.

Earlier this month, the IRS quietly altered its rules to allow the submission of 1040s with nothing on line 61. The IRS says it still maintains the option to follow up with those who elect not to indicate their coverage status, although it’s not clear what circumstances might trigger a follow up.

But what would have been a mandatory disclosure will instead be voluntary. Silent returns will no longer be automatically rejected. The change is a direct result of the executive order President Donald Trump issued in January directing the government to provide relief from Obamacare to individuals and insurers, within the boundaries of the law.

“The recent executive order directed federal agencies to exercise authority and discretion available to them to reduce potential burden,” the IRS said in a statement to Reason. “Consistent with that, the IRS has decided to make changes that would continue to allow electronic and paper returns to be accepted for processing in instances where a taxpayer doesn’t indicate their coverage status.”

The tax agency says the change will reduce the health law’s strain on taxpayers. “Processing silent returns means that taxpayer returns are not systemically rejected, allowing them to be processed and minimizing burden on taxpayers, including those expecting a refund,” the IRS statement said.

The change may seem minor. But it makes it clear that following Trump’s executive order, the agency’s trajectory is towards a less strict enforcement process.

Although the new policy leaves Obamacare’s individual mandate on the books, it may make it easier for individuals to go without coverage while avoiding the penalty. Essentially, if not explicitly, it is a weakening of the mandate enforcement mechanism.

“It’s hard to enforce something without information,” says Ryan Ellis, a Senior Fellow at the Conservative Reform Network.

The move has already raised questions about its legality. Federal law gives the administration broad authority to provide exemptions from the mandate. But “it does not allow the administration not to enforce the mandate, which it appears they may be doing here,” says Michael Cannon, health policy director at the libertarian Cato Institute. “Unless the Trump administration maintains the mandate is unconstitutional, the Constitution requires them to enforce it.”

“The mandate can only be weakened by Congress,” says Ellis. “This is a change to how the IRS is choosing to enforce it. They will count on voluntary disclosure of non-coverage rather than asking themselves.”

The IRS notes that taxpayers are still required to pay the mandate penalty, if applicable. “Legislative provisions of the ACA law are still in force until changed by the Congress, and taxpayers remain required to follow the law and pay what they may owe‎,” the agency statement said.

Ellis says the new policy doesn’t fully rise to the level of declining to enforce the law. “If the IRS turns a blind eye to people’s status, that isn’t quite not enforcing it,” he says. “It’s more like the IRS wanting to maintain plausible deniability.”

Tax software companies are already making note of the change. Drake Software, which provides services to tax professionals, recently sent out a notice explaining the change in policy. As of February 3, the notice said, the IRS “will now accept an e-filed return that does not indicate either full-year coverage or an individual shared responsibility payment or does not include an exemption on Form 8965, as required by IRS instructions, Form 1040, line 61.”

The mandate is a key component of Obamacare’s coverage scheme, which is built on what experts sometimes describe as a “three-legged stool.” The law requires health insurers to sell to all comers regardless of health history, and offers subsidies to lower income individuals in order to offset the cost of coverage. In order to prevent people from signing up for coverage only after getting sick, it also requires most individuals to maintain qualifying coverage or face a tax penalty. While defending the health law in court, the Obama administration maintained that the mandate was essential to the structure of the law, designed to make sure that people did not take advantage of its protections.

In a 2012 case challenging the law’s insurance requirement, the Supreme Court ruled that the individual mandate was constitutional as a tax penalty. The IRS is in charge of collecting payments.

Some health policy experts have argued that the mandate was already too weak to be effective, as a result of the many exemptions that are included. A 2012 report by the consulting firm Milliman found that the mandate penalty offered only a modest financial incentives for families making 300-400 percent of the federal poverty line. More recently, health insurers have said that individuals signing up for coverage and then quickly dropping it after major health expenses is a key driver of losses, and rising health insurance premiums.

It’s too early to say whether the change will ultimately make any difference. But given the centrality of the mandate to the law’s coverage scheme and the unsteadiness of the law’s health insurance exchanges, with premiums rising and insurers scaling back participation, it is possible that even a marginal weakening of the mandate could cause further dysfunction. Health insurers have said the mandate is a priority, and asked for it to be strengthened. Weaker enforcement of the mandate could cause insurance carriers to further reduce participation in the exchanges. One major insurer, Humana, said today that it would completely exit Obamacare’s exchanges after this year.

It is also possible that congressional Republicans will make it moot by repealing much of the law, including its individual mandate, which, as a tax, can be taken down with just 51 Senate votes.

Regardless of its direct impact, however, the change may signal that the Trump administration intends to water down enforcement of the health law’s most controversial requirement, even if those steps are seemingly small. The Trump administration may not be tearing Obamacare down entirely, but it appears to be taking steps to weaken the law, however subtly, one line at a time.

Correction: The IRS did not reject silent returns last year, as this story originally indicated. The plan was to go into effect this year, for 2016 returns, but the IRS reversed course on February 3. Reason regrets the error.

Archives: The 2017 Pro Motocross Season – Cycle News, answer motocross.#Answer #motocross

Archives: The 2017 Pro Motocross Season

The 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season came to a close last week in Crawfordsville, Indiana, and it was Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac breaking through to earn his first AMA Pro 450 Motocross Championship. Tomac was the 24th different 450 Class Champion in history. He also becomes the just the 11th rider in history to win a national title in both the 250 Class and 450 Class.

That was not easy at all. I went back after the first moto and thought ‘is it really going like this? I think I let my ego get the best of me in the first moto and needed to take it all in before the second moto, said Tomac after the Ironman. We went out there and did what we needed to do. This [championship] has been a long time coming and it feels amazing to finally accomplish it. I m kind of at a loss for words right now.

Tomac finished the season with a 17-point lead over Marvin Musquin, who moved from third to second, in the final championship standings. Blake Baggett was just an additional two points back in third.

It marked the first time since 2014 that the 450 class title came down to the final round.

Outside of Tomac’s title, perhaps the biggest headline of the 2017 season was the Jeff Herlings appearance in the season finale in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Herlings became the 68th different overall winner in 450 Class history and is just the second Dutch rider to earn a Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship victory, joining Pierre Karsmakers. He was the fourth different rider to break through with a first career 450 win this season, along with Marvin Musquin, Blake Baggett, and Justin Bogle.

I was fastest all day, from practice to the first moto and the second moto, said Herlings. I was so mad at myself for crashing in the second moto, so I just kept charging the entire time. I kind of got lucky that Marvin [Musquin] crashed there at the end, but it doesn t matter, I got a 1-1 and proved I was the best today.

Many are pointing to the victory by Herlings as a sign that the U.S. is no longer the dominant force in motocross racing. There’s no question that the Dutchman’s performance was very impressive and will go down as one of the most memorable wins in the history of the series, using his win as the sign of the demise of American motocross is likely premature. Remember, last fall had Jason Anderson not been landed on by another rider after winning race two, forcing him out, Team USA would have very likely walked away with the Chamberlain Cup. And that was with an underdog squad.

And remember Sébastien Tortelli’s victory at Glen Helen in 1999? That win did not ultimately change the balance of power in the world of motocross racing.

There’s no doubt that MX World Championship competitors have drawn closer to the overall talent in the American series, but is in no way represents a total collapse of the strength of American motocross on the world stage, that we experienced in road racing in recent years.

Tomac and Musquin each scored four overall wins in the 450 class this season. That moved Tomac’s career total to nine 450 national wins placing him 17th on the all-time wins list, just one behind Chad Reed and Kevin Windham.

Interestingly, Musquin finished 2017 with the most 450 podium finishes with nine to his credit, over seven by Tomac. Baggett was third with six rostrum results.

It marked the 12th AMA 450 Championship for Kawasaki and the first for Team Green since Ryan Villopoto’s title four years ago. That moved Kawasaki out of second-place a tie with Suzuki for 450 class title. Kawasaki is now only one championship away from tying Honda’s class leading 13 AMA 450 Championships (which includes the old 250cc two-stroke class).

It was a big year for Husqvarna. The maker won its first ever 250 Motocross class championship with first time 250 Motocross National Champ Zach Osborne bringing Husky the honor. As big of a name as Husqvarna is in motocross, Osborne’s 2017 title marks only the second AMA National Motocross Championship for the maker. It was 41 years ago when Husky last earned that honor when Kent Howerton brought home the old 500cc National title for the then Swedish maker.

Osborne was the 28th winner of the 250 class.

Osborne was the 250 class wins leader with five overalls in 2017. As in the 450 class, there were five different winners in the 250 class this season with Joey Savatgy (3 wins), Jeremy Martin (2 wins), Aaron Plessinger and Adam Cianciarulo with one overall win each.

Osborne is now tied for 31st on the all-time 250 class wins list with his five wins this season pushing his career tally to six. He’s now tied with Tyla Rattray and Mike LaRocco.

Cianciarulo finally earning victory was one of the headlines from 2017 we’ll likely remember. He came into the pro ranks in 2013 after a standout amateur career and was expected to be a contender from the very beginning. But Cianciarulo faced a series of injuries that saw him constantly on the comeback trail. He finally got the monkey off his back with sweet victory in his 37th-career start in the 250 MX class.

Chase Sexton, of GEICO Honda, won the Rookie of the Year Award.

As we draw the curtain on 2017, we already look to what the 2018 season holds in store for us. Perhaps the answer to the biggest question for the future is if Ken Roczen can make a comeback from his devastating arm injuries and once again do battle with the likes of Tomac, Musquin, Baggett, Osborne and the rest of 450 class riders in 2018.

The Alpinestars Tech 6s are specifically designed and sized for junior riders. The inner side of the boot is specifically designed for control and features thick and wide stamped suede designed for excellent contact and grip against the bike. They include a shock-absorbing insert on the back of the boot, and a new form-fitting PU gasket that literally seals water out of the boot!

Then there’s the Gaerne SG-J Boot. This kids’ boot is without a doubt one of the best money can buy. We used top grain leather for the main construction and a soft microfiber on the front to give a comfortable fit. Topped off with a new front plate, 4 new buckles and a heavy duty leather heat shield, this boot is up for the task.

And that’s just two of the hundreds of options. You can not only find a great price on boots, but from top brands. The savings are constantly being passed on to our customers here at BTO Sports, because we know that value is what the customer wants most, and frankly what the customer deserves.

                  Youth dirt bike boots

How about a short motorcycle boot? We got those too! These shorter models are all the rage, due to their comfort and ease of use. Forma Axel boots are a short race boot, manufactured in Europe to CE Certification, which is the latest safety standard for motorcycle boots. Forma were the first boot manufacturer to manufacture CE certified boots. Forma Axel Boots are perfect for when you want proper foot protection, but when you want a little more freedom that a full length boot provides. The boots have a microfiber upper, specific race compound rubber sole, vented side protection to the ankle, injection molded plastic protectors, a polyurethane toe protector and gear change protector.

Of course, Fox Racing has a number of options in the youth boot department! The Youth Comp 5 is the ultimate sports performance boot. The alloy buckles are easy is operate and provide a secure closure. The reinforced shin plates and medial guards give you excellent coverage. Talk about all day comfort and support- exactly what our kids need on the trails and tracks!

So remember, when your kids need a new pair of boots- we have the selection and price point to get you exactly what you are looking for! Do not delay- skip on down this page and find what you need… we have it!

We think it’s important you understand the strengths and limitations of the site. We’re a journalistic website and aim to provide the best MoneySaving guides, tips, tools and techniques, but can’t guarantee to be perfect, so do note you use the information at your own risk and we can’t accept liability if things go wrong.

                  • This info does not constitute financial advice, always do your own research on top to ensure it’s right for your specific circumstances and remember we focus on rates not service.
                  • Do note, while we always aim to give you accurate product info at the point of publication, unfortunately price and terms of products and deals can always be changed by the provider afterwards, so double check first.
                  • We don’t as a general policy investigate the solvency of companies mentioned (how likely they are to go bust), but there is a risk any company can struggle and it’s rarely made public until it’s too late (see the Section 75 guide for protection tips).
                  • We often link to other websites, but we can’t be responsible for their content.
                  • Always remember anyone can post on the MSE forums, so it can be very different from our opinion.

To measure your head size, wrap a cloth tape measure horizontally around your head about one inch above your eyebrows and ears. This will measure the largest portion of your head.

Select the helmet size that is closest to your head size. Often times your head measurement may fall between two helmet sizes. When this occurs you should first try the smaller size.

When wearing a helmet, it should be snug. If it is not snug, it is too big for you. With the helmet on and chin strap fastened, if you can move the helmet easily from side to side and up and down without moving your head, the helmet is too big. Try a size smaller.

Be aware that different helmets fit different head shapes. A helmet that will fit one person perfectly may not fit another person with the same size head, due to the shapes of their heads being different

Start with measuring your sleeve length. With your arm slightly bent, start from your neck bone, measure over your shoulder and elbow points, and end at the wrist bone. This is also called Center Back (CB) Sleeve length.

                  Center Back (CB) Length

The Center Back Length is the measurement from your neck bone, down your spine to your waist.

Next measure your chest. You will want the total circumference of your chest at it’s largest point. Stand straight with your arms out, and measure under your arm pits, across the breast bone with arms relaxed. Make sure the tape measure is parallel with the floor.

                  Answer motocross

Stand in a mirror and bend to one side. Where your body creases is your natural waist. Measure around your natural waist line while keeping the tape measure parallel with the floor. Relax when taking the measurement.

The hip measurement is the total circumference at your hip’s largest point. Keep tape measure parallel to the floor, and relax when taking measurement.

The inseam is the total length of the inside seam from your crotch to your ankle. Stand straight, but relax when taking measurement.

The outseam is the length of the outside seam from your waist to your ankle.

When Will I Get My Post 9/11 GI Bill Housing Allowance Paid?

Q: Hello, I just started using the benefits of my Post 9/11 GI Bill. I received a letter a few days ago regarding my BAH. I just recently started the Spring semester at my school last month in January. It is now February and I wanted to know when exactly I will receive payments on my housing allowance. In the letter I received, it stated that I will be receiving the monthly housing allowance every month, of the prior month that I am enrolled in the school. I am still awaiting my first payment of my housing allowance. I was told that you receive payment on the 1st of every month. I was wondering if there is an exact date that I can expect the housing allowance to show up in my account, or if the date and time of the payment varies. Please let me know any information that I need. Thank you very much. Very respectful.

A: What you were told is correct – but only after you receive the first payment, which can take 8 to 10 weeks. So if you started school in January, don’t expect to see any Post 9/11 GI Bill money until around the middle of March. If you haven’t received anything by then, call the VA.

As far as when you should receive money, it should come during the first part of each month, but not necessarily the 1 st of each month. And yes, what you receive will be for the previous month as the VA is always one month behind in paying. Once you start receiving money, you should see a deposit around the same time each month – at least within the span of a few days. Federal holidays and storm closures can affect the payment schedule like any other Federal agency.

                  • Stumble!

So basically if you are getting out of the military and going straight to school you re going to be eating ramen and sleeping under a stairwell for a few months while the VA gets their head out of their fourth point of contact.

                  3:47 pm on January 17, 2012

That is correct unless you have saved enough to carry you through until you get your first VA payment.

                  3:37 pm on January 22, 2012

Damn this is hella true. I saved enough for 2 years of hard times while i was in the coast guards. I started school in june. It s almost september. VA cant tell me when i will see money. That s funny because they sure gave me dates when they wanted me in boot camp, or wanted me deployed but NOW i cant get a date to save my life when they owe ME something. Argggggghhh

                  11:12 pm on August 12, 2012

The last time I looked Matt, the VA was on a 125 day backlog and working on 915,000 claims and applications, so you should see something soon. You are smart in having enough money to get you by for a while. I see many students get out of the military start school and expect to still get paid on the 1st and 15th. As you are finding out, it doesn t work that way. Hang in there.

                  8:35 am on August 14, 2012

As a related question, will the BAH (MHA) be prorated as well? In other words, if I started school on the 27th of August and can therefore expect my first check sometime in November, will I be paid for 4 days of August and all of September/October?

Why is the Sky Blue, question and answer site.#Question #and #answer #site

                  Why is the Sky Blue?

                  by Science Made Simple

                  Why is the Sky Blue?

On a clear sunny day, the sky above us looks bright blue. In the evening, the sunset puts on a brilliant show of reds, pinks and oranges. Why is the sky blue? What makes the sunset red?

To answer these questions, we must learn about light, and the Earth’s atmosphere.

MIT used parts of this article in their online class!

                  Table of Contents

                  The Atmosphere

The atmosphere is the mixture of gas molecules and other materials surrounding the earth. It is made mostly of the gases nitrogen (78%), and oxygen (21%). Argon gas and water (in the form of vapor, droplets and ice crystals) are the next most common things. There are also small amounts of other gases, plus many small solid particles, like dust, soot and ashes, pollen, and salt from the oceans.

The composition of the atmosphere varies, depending on your location, the weather, and many other things. There may be more water in the air after a rainstorm, or near the ocean. Volcanoes can put large amounts of dust particles high into the atmosphere. Pollution can add different gases or dust and soot.

The atmosphere is densest (thickest) at the bottom, near the Earth. It gradually thins out as you go higher and higher up. There is no sharp break between the atmosphere and space. Learn more about the atmosphere.

                  Light Waves

Light is a kind of energy that radiates, or travels, in waves. Many different kinds of energy travel in waves. For example, sound is a wave of vibrating air. Light is a wave of vibrating electric and magnetic fields.

                  Question and answer site

It is one small part of a larger range of vibrating electromagnetic fields. This range is called the electromagnetic spectrum.

Electromagnetic waves travel through space at 299,792 km/sec (186,282 miles/sec). This is called the speed of light.

The energy of the radiation depends on its wavelength and frequency. Wavelength is the distance between the tops (crests) of the waves. Frequency is the number of waves that pass by each second. The longer the wavelength of the light, the lower the frequency, and the less energy it contains.

                  Colors of Light

Visible light is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that our eyes can see. Light from the sun or a light bulb may look white, but it is actually a combination of many colors. We can see the different colors of the spectrum by splitting the light with a prism. Question and answer site

The spectrum is also visible when you see a rainbow in the sky.

The colors blend continuously into one another. At one end of the spectrum are the reds and oranges. These gradually shade into yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The colors have different wavelengths, frequencies, and energies. Violet has the shortest wavelength in the visible spectrum. That means it has the highest frequency and energy. Red has the longest wavelength, and lowest frequency and energy.

                  Light in the Air

Light travels through space in a straight line as long as nothing disturbs it. As light moves through the atmosphere, it continues to go straight until it bumps into a bit of dust or a gas molecule. Then what happens to the light depends on its wave length and the size of the thing it hits.

Dust particles and water droplets are much larger than the wavelength of visible light. When light hits these large particles, it gets reflected, or bounced off, in different directions. The different colors of light are all reflected by the particle in the same way. The reflected light appears white because it still contains all of the same colors.

Gas molecules are smaller than the wavelength of visible light. If light bumps into them, it acts differently. When light hits a gas molecule, some of it may get absorbed. After awhile, the molecule radiates (releases, or gives off) the light in a different direction. The color that is radiated is the same color that was absorbed. The different colors of light are affected differently. All of the colors can be absorbed. But the higher frequencies (blues) are absorbed more often than the lower frequencies (reds). This process is called Rayleigh scattering. (It is named after Lord John Rayleigh, an English physicist, who first described it in the 1870’s.)

                  Why is the Sky Blue?

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. Question and answer siteAs light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

The test contains multiple-choice tests in four areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. Each of these tests contains questions that offer either four or five answer choices from which you are to choose the correct, or best, answer.

If you register for the optional ACT with writing, you will take the writing test after the four multiple-choice tests.

                  General Test Tips

Carefully read the instructions on the cover of the test booklet.

Read the directions for each test carefully.

                  Read each question carefully.

Calculators may be used on the mathematics test only. Calculator Policy (PDF)

Pace yourself—don’t spend too much time on a single passage or question.

Pay attention to the announcement of five minutes remaining on each test.

Use a soft-lead No. 2 pencil with a good eraser. Do not use a mechanical pencil or ink pen; if you do, your answer document cannot be scored accurately.

Mark only one answer to each question, and for each question, make certain that you mark in the row of ovals with the same number as the question.

Fill in the oval completely, and make your marks heavy and black. If you change your mind about an answer, erase your first mark completely without smudging.

For each question, decide which answer is best.

Answer the easy questions first, and then go back and answer the more difficult ones if you have time remaining on that test.

On difficult questions, eliminate as many incorrect answers as you can, then make an educated guess among those remaining.

Answer every question. Your scores on the multiple-choice tests are based on the number of questions you answer correctly. You will not be penalized for guessing. It is to your advantage to answer every question even if you must guess.

If you complete a test before time is called, recheck your work on that test. Do not look back to a test on which time has already been called, and do not go ahead to another test. To do so will disqualify you from the examination.

When time is called on any test, lay your pencil down immediately and do not mark or alter any ovals on the test or continue writing the essay. If you do, you will be dismissed and your answer document will not be scored.

                  Writing test tips:

                  • Before you begin working on the writing test, read all material in the test booklet to understand what you are being asked to do.
                  • You may plan your essay on the unlined pages provided. They will not be scored. Only your writing on the lined pages of the answer document will be scored.

Better Questions, Better Decisions, and a Stronger Democracy

We’ve been at work for more than 20 years teaching a strategy that helps people in low-income communities learn to advocate for themselves and their families. We have seen people use the strategy to advocate for their children at school, participate in decisions that affect them at the welfare office, secure better job training opportunities, and partner more effectively with their healthcare providers. We’ve also seen that the same strategy has universal value and has been used by college and graduate school students, professors, and professionals in various fields.

What is the “Right Question Strategy?” It is deceptively simple: Teach just two skills; how to ask your own questions and how to participate in decisions that affect you. We are often challenged to explain why these simple skills even need to be taught, and then, there are times when those who understand the full significance of these very sophisticated skills need to be convinced that they can even be taught.

We are seeing an explosion of implementation around the country in teaching the skill of question formulation. Since Harvard Education Press published Make Just One Change: Teach Students to Ask Their Own Questions in 2011, thousands of educators around the world have begun to teach their students how to ask their own questions. The results are students who are more engaged in their learning, take more ownership and learn more.

Learning “just” these two skills creates not only a pathway to success on many levels but also a pathway to full participation in democracy. We need more people capable of thinking for themselves and ready to make a contribution to building a more democratic and more just world.

The ACT measures the knowledge, understanding, and skills that you have acquired throughout your education.

The ACT measures the knowledge, understanding, and skills that you have acquired throughout your education.

How To Answer The Tell Me About Yourself Interview Question

Ok, you think, nice open question, easy one, so you launch into a great rambling ten minute speech giving all the details about your life from the day your were born including your hobbies and the name of your cat.

You feel very pleased with yourself but chances are with that one answer, you may have lost the job. The interviewer would possibly see you as incompetent, unable to summarise and lacking focus and direction.

In my experience many interviewees answer this question poorly when in fact I view this as a great opportunity for you to really sell yourself and make a powerful first impression. So what goes wrong?

If the question comes early on in the interview, the interviewer wants to hear about your career to date and what you will bring to the job. Indeed, it may be that they have not had an opportunity to read your CV and want you to help summarise it for them.

Why Interviewers Ask Tell Me About Yourself

This interview question is so commonly asked because it is a great question. Asking this at the start allows the candidate to talk about something familiar i.e. themselves, so they start to feel at ease. It also gives the interviewer lots of information in a very short space of time.

It is also used to see how well a candidate can communicate. It is a test to see if you can summarise, can structure and can self analyse so that you can impart the most important information in a short space of time.

For the candidate even though this might seem difficult this too is a great question. Get it right and it could get you the job. Its a real selling opportunity and I suggest you spend time to get your answer perfect. Use the guide below but remember its about you.

How to Answer the Tell Me About Yourself question

We recommend that you keep your answer to no less than 30 seconds and no longer than 2 minutes. You should include your name, a personal profile, your key strengths, a recent achievement, your most recent responsibilities and where you want to go next in your career.

This is all about what you can bring to the job so avoid including details of your personal life, hobbies and interests. Unless something is relevant to the job don t use valuable time including it.

It is a great selling opportunity so focus on your achievements highlighting the results you have delivered. This is proof of your ability and will set the scene for a much more productive interview.

                  Sample Answer

Here is a sample answer for a candidate being interviewed for a Finance Manager role:

Good morning, my name is James Smith*. I am a qualified accountant with six years post qualified experience gained within the pharmaceutical industry.

I worked with Glaxo Smith Klein* as an assistant accountant and I have spent the past 4 years working with Pfizer* where my most recent role was as project accountant.I managed the project finance team of 8 staff and I m proud to say that I recently implemented a new financial management system saving the company over £500,000 in year one.

I have a reputation for my attention to detail and delivering within strict deadlines and I enjoy working with financial data.

Going forward I will be working in a challenging finance role within the same industry and your organisation is one in which I believe I could settle down and make a real contribution.

In this answer we have addressed the Capability, Commitment and Cultural Fit criteria and highlighted above are the key phrases that help make this a good answer.

At the end, the interviewee could ask Are there any specific areas you would like me to talk about further?

Even without this prompt we would expect the interviewer to probe further exploring the new financial management system , what other projects the candidate was involved in at Pfizer, what they did at Glaxo Smith Klein and why do they think they could settle down at this organisation.

Surely, this does not mean that all types of homework papers are unnecessary for students. The lion’s share of such academic assignments helps students to obtain useful knowledge and develop various creative and writing skills. Surely, in this case, the best variant is to hire a team of professional writers from a respectable and in all means trustworthy homework writing service. Fortunately, specially trained experts are ready to complete all homework assignments, providing you the best project on the best conditions.

Obviously, our homework writing service allows our clients to make orders with ease, eschewing troubles with extra software tools or additional money losses.

The process itself is quite simple and does not take much time:

                  • Specify all the interesting details.
                  • Make pre-payment. Obviously, you can ask about any significant details of our new business agreement.

Have you been wondering how I gain those good grades whenever the academic session comes to an end? This is down to the method I employ whenever it is time to do my homework. These methods are also employed by the online firms to come up with great papers. It boils down to setting goals and pursuing them. Dividing my task into different small units helps me a lot.

By so doing, I will be able to do my homework bit by bit till the entire stuff is done. This is also possible because I do not procrastinate once I have one on my table. It’s either I start doing it immediately or I send it to people that do homework for me online. The idea is to take as many breaks as possible, so as to always come back rejuvenated. Whenever I have this task, I think about the consequences of not writing it.

By so doing, I am motivated to take action. I also think about the benefits of doing a great one and gaining the best grades. After considering all these, I will go in search of people who will do my homework for money if I feel I cannot produce the best paper. If I feel I can do the work, I get to a serene place that is bereft of all distractions and think about the best way to do my homework.

The best approach to adopt to do my homework

The method I employ to do my homework online can work for everybody. But this is only when you are sure that you have the skills, the time, the information, and details of the topic you are writing about. You must also know the format and writing style to use. If you are not sure about these, just hire people that do homework assignments online. If you would want to do it, you should start by doing extensive reading about the subject of the task.

Since your homework paper may be in a vast area, you have to concentrate on reading summaries of different chapters, their captions and charts. Also, read other places where information is easily revealed. When you are through with the reading part, map out the raw answers to each of the essay questions. This is to be done way before you insert the details. When you do these, leave some lines that you will come and fill in with details later.

For you to come out with a great piece, you need to discover those things that motivate you and stick with them. You need a whole lot of motivation to come up with a good outcome. On another level, you can also look for a homework writing partner. This should also be part of the motivation. When you know that someone besides you is undergoing the same challenge and stomaching it, you will be inspired.

Question and Answer Session after the Presentation – Succeed in Public Speaking by Ron Kurtus: School for Champions, question and answer websites.#Question #and #answer #websites

Question and Answer Session after the Presentation

Allowing the audience to ask questions after your presentation is an excellent way to reinforce your message and continue to sell your ideas. In addition, because listeners can ask for clarification, audience members are less likely to leave your presentation or speech with misconceptions about the concepts you delivered. Because of these benefits, the question and answer period is actually another presentation and vital to most speaking situations. It is like a presentation after the presentation.

                  Questions you may have include:

                  • How does a Q A session reinforce your message?
                  • How does session clarify concepts?
                  • How is it like another presentation?

This lesson will answer those questions.

                  Reinforcing message

                  Tell your intentions

Create the right mental set among your listeners by telling them early in the presentation that you will have a question and answer period at the end of your speech. If you have an introducer, tell that person to mention your willingness to answer questions at the end of the presentation. People are more likely to ask questions if you tell them at the beginning that they will have this opportunity.

                  Prime the pump

Show that you want queries. Say, Who has the first question? Look expectant after you ask the question. If no question is asked, prime the pump by asking a question. Say, A question I m often asked is . Ask the question and then answer it. If there are then no questions, you can finish with Are there any other questions? Some of the enthusiasm for your presentation is lost if you have no questions from the audience. Usually, priming the pump will motivate audience members to ask questions.

                  Repeat question

Look at the person asking the question, and repeat it, especially if there is a large audience or if you need a moment to think. By repeating the question you also insure you understood what the person asked. However, do not continue looking at the person once you start to answer the question.

Remember that you are still in a public speaking situation and that the whole audience should hear your answer not just the person who asked the question. In addition, continue to stand where you are equally distant from all members of your audience. Avoid the temptation to move directly to the person who asked the question. Visually this will make the rest of the audience feel left out.

As you end your answer, look back at the person and his/her facial expression will tell if you answered the question satisfactorily.

                  Be concise

Keep your answer concise and to the point. Don t give another speech. The audience will be bored if you take too long to answer a question. In addition, possibly the only person interested in the answer is the one who asked the question! If you can answer with a yes or no, then do so. This keeps the tempo moving and will help keep the audience s attention.

                  Loaded question

One of the toughest challenges is the loaded question. Don t answer a loaded question; defuse it before you answer. Before answering a question such as, What are you doing with all the money you are making from increased prices? defuse it by saying, I understand your frustration with the recent rate increase. I believe what you are asking is, Why such a sudden increase in rates? Then answer that question.

You only get into arguments when you allow yourself to answer the loaded question. If the person is not satisfied with the changing of the question s wording, tell him or her that you will be glad to talk about it following the question and answer period and move quickly to the next question.

                  Comment instead of question

Sometimes you will have a listener raise his or her hand and instead of asking a question will make an extended comment or a speech. This person has no question.

A way to handle this is to watch the person s speaking rate, and when he or she takes a moment for a breath interrupt with Thanks for your comment .Next question? Look to the other side of the room and the long-winded speaker is not sure whether you interrupted him or whether you really thought he or she was finished. Do not allow the person to continue with the speech because it will deprive other members of the audience of the opportunity to ask questions.

                  Don t praise questions

Don t evaluate questions. Avoid saying That was a great question, or Good question. If the next person asks a question and you give no positive adjective, then the person may think you did not approve of the question and that could stifle others from asking questions. If you want to affirm a specific question, simply say, Thanks for asking that question. Make everyone feel equally good about asking questions.

Give conclusion after the question and answer

Consider having your conclusion after the question and answer period. This technique allows you to control the end of your time in front of the audience.

Instead of the last question, the audience receives your prepared and planned conclusion. Say, Before I make some concluding remarks, who has a question to ask? Then when you take the amount of time you want for the question and answer period, go back to your conclusion.

Thus you can end in a positive and upbeat way rather than trailing off with So if there are no further questions, I guess that s it .

                  Maintain control

Always maintain control of the speaking situation. When you open your presentation for audience participation, there are risks of losing control.

Anticipate the unexpected. Plan ahead as much as possible. Look at your content and think about likely questions the audience will ask. Prepare your own questions to ask. Don t be afraid to say, I don t know, and move on to the next question (You might add that you will be glad to get back to them with an answer at a later time).

Be up front with a questioner if you think the question is not relevant and in a kind way say so. Your response might be, Actually, that question doesn t the fit the context of our discussion. Work hard not to lose your temper with someone who is trying to make you look bad by the question asked.

                  In conclusion

Remember that many speaking situations really involve two presentations: the formal presentation and the question and answer period. Insure success with both presentations by using these techniques for the question and answer period.

To answer that fan question: Is Luke Bryan getting divorced? NashvilleGab, question and answer websites.#Question #and #answer #websites

To answer that fan question: Is Luke Bryan getting divorced?

To answer that fan question is the part of NashvilleGab where I take the sometimes funny things readers have ended up on the website searching for and actually answer them in a somewhat coherent way.

Okay, for some reason people have been coming to NashvilleGab a lot lately searching for whether Luke Bryan is getting divorced or is already divorced.

The simple answer to that burning question is: I don t think so.

Honestly, as an outsider looking in I m not a party to Luke s private life and have no way of knowing these things unless TMZ or People.com breaks the story. I will tell you, though, that as a gossip/news writer I ve heard nary a squawk on the subject from those nosy nellies out there who like to pass on this sort of information to me. As far as I know, Luke and his lovely wife Caroline are as happy as two peas in a cozy little pod. With two sons to think about, let s hope they stay that way.

But why the sudden interest in Luke s marriage status? Probably just wishful thinking. I mean come on, the man is a handsome fella with really nice teeth. Apart from the normal sexiness worship, however, if you Google Luke Bryan divorce one of the first results that pops up is a bit of fan fiction someone wrote about Luke getting divorced and falling in love with the writer.

Like I said, it s fan fiction. You can read it here if that s something that floats your boat.

There is also one story out there that says that Luke might possibly be single. If you read the fine print on the website, however, the story is meant to be satire. Most people don t read the fine print so maybe there s someone out there saying they ve read that Luke s single. I don t really know.

There is one other very real possibility, though, and that is that fans have heard that a country star is going through a divorce and they re just guessing that it might be Luke Bryan (or hoping). Jason Aldean is currently divorcing his wife so maybe fans are just mixing the two up.

Now that we ve concluded that Luke s most probably not single and not getting divorced, let s enjoy a bit of him teaching a couple of fans how to shake it properly.

Zlloyd1, I know exactly what you mean! I hate assessment tests as well, particularly when they only give you an option between something bad and something awful. In those instances, just keep trying to chose the lesser of the two evils that more closely matches what you prefer. I personally think companies lose good people because of stupid assessment tests.

I lie on these things and fail. I tell the truth and still fail. wtf. whats sad is im an amazing person to work with/for but noone will ever know because of these stupid tests.

zlloyd1 – I am in the same position as you are. The assessment for target was painful to get through as 80% of the 2 choices I didn t agree with. IT was ridiculous.

                  Answer my questions for free

Just Jill, I think those kinds of assessment tests are judging whether you are a social type of person or an analytical one so I d say the way to answer is dependent on the type of job for which you are applying. For example, if it s a sales job, I d answer being more social. If you are handling the company s taxes, answer more analytically. It s very job-type dependent.

What about the tests that ask what would your current or most recent employer say ranging from below other countries workers to much higher than your computer workers?

                  Answer my questions for free

Sandi, I m not sure I understand the question. Are you saying that a test asked how your past employers would compare you and used examples that included worker from another country or computer workers ? If that s the question, I think it s awful that they asked such a question. It s insulting to workers in other countries (like they are somehow the complete and negative opposite of computer workers). and totally confusing for you. As far as how to answer it, if you really want the job, I d try to answer honestly about where you d place yourself in the range (tending toward a higher score than a lower one). Thanks, Kathy

                  Answer my questions for free

Wow, Sofia, I am sorry that you were asked such odd questions. No wonder you are confused about how to answer them! As far as how to answer them, I d be guessing, but for the 1st one, I d talk about how you will ensure that the ostrich eggs will sell successfully through merchandising, operations, marketing, etc. For the 2nd one, I d just trying to come up with something not controversial (like don t get into politics, religion or anything prejudicial), maybe something like, I don t believe that breakfast is the most important meal because I haven t been eating it for years and it makes me feel awake and eager to face the day. Regarding the 3rd question, about the tortoise and the leopard (or in America, we d say the tortoise and the hare), I would say that if the tortoise won it was because smart, steady work ensures success because you are not rushing and making mistakes. In general, think what the questions are trying to get to . in these questions, they are trying to see if 1) you can put a plan together to successfully sell something (the eggs), 2) you can deal constructively with people who have a different opinion and 3) you will be careful and methodical in your work.
