How to invert the Fn key – Super User, peter answers 3.0.#Peter #answers #3.0

How to invert the Fn key

I have this problem on my laptop: If my Fn key is pressed, the normal (PC-like) F1 – F12 keys will be triggered; when it isn’t, then the special keys will be triggered (e.g. brightness control, sound volume).

Is there any way I can invert this, so that when I press the Fn key the special keys will be triggered and when I don’t the F1 – F12 keys will?

Peter answers 3.0

13 Answers

That’s probably due to an extra option in the BIOS made by the manufacturer. When booting press F2 (usually) to get into the BIOS settings and there you can revert back to function keys instead of multimedia.

Have you tried to press the numbers lock key to change the fn keys functions?

Peter answers 3.0

On my Dell XPS 15, it seems to be as simple as me accidentally pressing the Fn Lock button behind the Escape key. If you have this problem, simply hit Fn+Esc and it should revert back to normal, without having to go into the BIOS

I had the same problem using a Lenovo Ideapad.

Solution for me was to turn off laptop, press the NOVO key, (reset and systems start, small button next to the powercord) and start up in bios mode.

In functions change the fn/fx option from “hotkey” to “legacy”

Peter answers 3.0

It depends on the manufacturer, and sometimes even on the model. Some keyboards have a physical switch hidden somewhere, some keyboards support pressing fn+caps, others require changing a setting in the bios.

The last resort, which is far from ideal but works on all models, is the software approach using AutoHotKey.

Some Microsoft keyboards will recognize this keystroke as a toggle: “Fn” + “Caps”

On my Dell laptop I pressed Fn + Esc and the problem is solved for me. If you closely notice, there is a small lock (Fn written on it) sign on the Esc. Apparently, you can change the default behavior of Fn key using Fn + Esc.

Peter answers 3.0

I had the same issue with a Logitech K290 Comfort Keyboard keyboard where for some reason it appeared that Logitech had decided for me that I would be better off with the keys switched.

Once I downloaded the setup software (SetPoint) I was able to untick ” Swap F key functions ” and it went back to normal behaviour (thankfully, as with software development the last thing you want is to keep choosing that you actually want the function key you pressed!).

Peter answers 3.0

All you have to do is to search for Windows Utility Center or Mobility Center. To get this option press Windows+X which gets you a a popup menu in the left corner of the screen. From there select Mobility Center or Windows Utility Center, and from there assign for your function keys.

Peter answers 3.0

Peter answers 3.0

You need to restart (to enter in BIOS) your computer to change this.

While first black screen comes Press F2 (this may differ in your laptop).

If a bios screen (may be unknown to you) appear then find Function Key Behavior select Multimedia Key First or Function Key First .

Function Key First

This is the default option. Press any function key to perform the associated function. For multimedia action, press Fn + the required multimedia key.

Multimedia Key First

Press any multimedia key to perform the associated multimedia action. For function, press Fn + the required function key.

To answer that fan question: Is Luke Bryan getting divorced? NashvilleGab, question and answer websites.#Question #and #answer #websites

To answer that fan question: Is Luke Bryan getting divorced?

To answer that fan question is the part of NashvilleGab where I take the sometimes funny things readers have ended up on the website searching for and actually answer them in a somewhat coherent way.

Okay, for some reason people have been coming to NashvilleGab a lot lately searching for whether Luke Bryan is getting divorced or is already divorced.

The simple answer to that burning question is: I don t think so.

Honestly, as an outsider looking in I m not a party to Luke s private life and have no way of knowing these things unless TMZ or People.com breaks the story. I will tell you, though, that as a gossip/news writer I ve heard nary a squawk on the subject from those nosy nellies out there who like to pass on this sort of information to me. As far as I know, Luke and his lovely wife Caroline are as happy as two peas in a cozy little pod. With two sons to think about, let s hope they stay that way.

But why the sudden interest in Luke s marriage status? Probably just wishful thinking. I mean come on, the man is a handsome fella with really nice teeth. Apart from the normal sexiness worship, however, if you Google Luke Bryan divorce one of the first results that pops up is a bit of fan fiction someone wrote about Luke getting divorced and falling in love with the writer.

Like I said, it s fan fiction. You can read it here if that s something that floats your boat.

There is also one story out there that says that Luke might possibly be single. If you read the fine print on the website, however, the story is meant to be satire. Most people don t read the fine print so maybe there s someone out there saying they ve read that Luke s single. I don t really know.

There is one other very real possibility, though, and that is that fans have heard that a country star is going through a divorce and they re just guessing that it might be Luke Bryan (or hoping). Jason Aldean is currently divorcing his wife so maybe fans are just mixing the two up.

Now that we ve concluded that Luke s most probably not single and not getting divorced, let s enjoy a bit of him teaching a couple of fans how to shake it properly.

WiserUTips: How to answer tricky assessment test questions, answer my questions for free.#Answer #my #questions #for #free

Zlloyd1, I know exactly what you mean! I hate assessment tests as well, particularly when they only give you an option between something bad and something awful. In those instances, just keep trying to chose the lesser of the two evils that more closely matches what you prefer. I personally think companies lose good people because of stupid assessment tests.

Answer my questions for free

I lie on these things and fail. I tell the truth and still fail. wtf. whats sad is im an amazing person to work with/for but noone will ever know because of these stupid tests.

zlloyd1 – I am in the same position as you are. The assessment for target was painful to get through as 80% of the 2 choices I didn t agree with. IT was ridiculous.

Answer my questions for free

Just Jill, I think those kinds of assessment tests are judging whether you are a social type of person or an analytical one so I d say the way to answer is dependent on the type of job for which you are applying. For example, if it s a sales job, I d answer being more social. If you are handling the company s taxes, answer more analytically. It s very job-type dependent.

What about the tests that ask what would your current or most recent employer say ranging from below other countries workers to much higher than your computer workers?

Answer my questions for free

Sandi, I m not sure I understand the question. Are you saying that a test asked how your past employers would compare you and used examples that included worker from another country or computer workers ? If that s the question, I think it s awful that they asked such a question. It s insulting to workers in other countries (like they are somehow the complete and negative opposite of computer workers). and totally confusing for you. As far as how to answer it, if you really want the job, I d try to answer honestly about where you d place yourself in the range (tending toward a higher score than a lower one). Thanks, Kathy

Answer my questions for free

Wow, Sofia, I am sorry that you were asked such odd questions. No wonder you are confused about how to answer them! As far as how to answer them, I d be guessing, but for the 1st one, I d talk about how you will ensure that the ostrich eggs will sell successfully through merchandising, operations, marketing, etc. For the 2nd one, I d just trying to come up with something not controversial (like don t get into politics, religion or anything prejudicial), maybe something like, I don t believe that breakfast is the most important meal because I haven t been eating it for years and it makes me feel awake and eager to face the day. Regarding the 3rd question, about the tortoise and the leopard (or in America, we d say the tortoise and the hare), I would say that if the tortoise won it was because smart, steady work ensures success because you are not rushing and making mistakes. In general, think what the questions are trying to get to . in these questions, they are trying to see if 1) you can put a plan together to successfully sell something (the eggs), 2) you can deal constructively with people who have a different opinion and 3) you will be careful and methodical in your work.

Christina El Moussa has signed on as E!’s celebrity guest editor for lifestyle and home. In addition to starring in one of HGTV’s most popular shows, Flip or Flop, Christina is a real estate investor and interior design expert. Whether she’s tiling walls for a renovation project or switching to mom duty with her two children, this is one woman who’s always on the move and she took over E! Home during Fashion Week to show us how it’s done.

To finish out the week, the real estate star is answering all your questions about her successful TV series: from everything about flipped houses to flip flops.

Online answering questions

We’ve had like two episodes where we lost money. In real life, yes, we’ve lost money. Sometimes when you go into [a project], you know there’s a potential to lose but that’s just the name of the game. I think we lose on maybe 10% [of our projects]. Sometimes there might be a foundation of the house, and then you buy it and you don’t know how bad it really is. One time the foundation was really bad [on a project] and we lost like 60k.

Online answering questions

How the material is laid, if the tile is straight, if the cabinets open and close properly you can tell visually right when you walk in from how [the house is] painted and other factors like that.

Online answering questions

I like painting, I think it’s relaxing. I also like designing; I don’t really like the manual labor, to be honest.

Well, since we separated he now wears closed-toe shoes; he tries to look more presentable! But yes, it’s definitely dangerous though, I’d always tell him not to. He just really loves flip flips.

One day we came to set and everyone was acting kind of strange (they get there a little before us). I didn’t know what was going on, and I walked into the house and there’s this glowing, purple light coming from the back bedroom and I can hear these slow jams playing. I walk in, and there’s this person sleeping on a blow-up mattress listening to R B music and there are SpaghettiOs on the counter that someone had cooked! His clothes were in the closet, and he was just passed out in the bed and he totally scared me. I screamed and ran out of the house. He had partied there the night before and made the noodles and brought a boom box. We gave him a hundred bucks to get him out of there, and then watched him walk away with his little backpack.

Online answering questions

So we don’t stage all houses. We do for the show because it looks better on TV, but it’s expensive to stage. It’s not always necessary especially if you flip a house and you do a really good job on design, I usually tell people who go through our seminar company that you don’t have to spend money on staging. Also, we hire staging companies we don’t do it ourselves. But I tell them to work based off of the style of the house, so for example if it’s a modern design, they’ll stage the space with modern furniture. If it’s a traditional or Spanish look, they’re going to go with more of that d cor.

Online answering questions

I like to go to this design center in Costa Mesa, everything is custom there though. I actually have a hard time finding furniture I like. I guess Z Gallerie is where I get my accessories and tableware. I used to like Restoration Hardware a lot.

Online answering questions

In one of the episodes that actually aired, there were like 1000 cockroaches everywhere. There was still food in the fridge from who knows how long, and a million cockroaches. So when we pulled the refrigerator out of the house, there was like a line of them following the refrigerator out the door. It was disgusting. And cockroaches are really hard to get rid of when you have that many. It was constant bombing, bombing, bombing [to treat the problem]. Really gross.

Online answering questions

One of my best friends has a cosmetic line, her name is Shannon Houston, so I use Pink Dust Cosmetics. I like to do a bronze smoky eye with some lashes and a nude lip. That’s my favorite look.

Online answering questions

It depends what stage the project is in. If I’m going to be painting and tiling, I usually wear gym clothes [from a brand like] Lululemon. Otherwise, just jeans and a cute top with boots. I usually wear closed-toe shoes on the first couple days of filming because it’s usually pretty gross inside the houses, so I try not to wear sandals or anything open-toed.

Online answering questions

We’re still filming right now. We’re currently doing six episodes for season seven, all at the same time. We film together about three days a week and everything is going fine. Things are they way they were before, we work well together and we’re used to it.

Article continues below

Online answering questions

Yea, I’m sure that’s one of the reasons we continue [with the show], because we have to continue to co-parent no matter what, so we definitely agreed that for the best interest of the kids that we’re going to work together and do the show together and keep a united front.

The ACT measures the knowledge, understanding, and skills that you have acquired throughout your education.

The test contains multiple-choice tests in four areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. Each of these tests contains questions that offer either four or five answer choices from which you are to choose the correct, or best, answer.

If you register for the optional ACT with writing, you will take the writing test after the four multiple-choice tests.

General Test Tips

Carefully read the instructions on the cover of the test booklet.

Read the directions for each test carefully.

Read each question carefully.

Calculators may be used on the mathematics test only. Calculator Policy (PDF)

Pace yourself—don’t spend too much time on a single passage or question.

Pay attention to the announcement of five minutes remaining on each test.

Use a soft-lead No. 2 pencil with a good eraser. Do not use a mechanical pencil or ink pen; if you do, your answer document cannot be scored accurately.

Mark only one answer to each question, and for each question, make certain that you mark in the row of ovals with the same number as the question.

Fill in the oval completely, and make your marks heavy and black. If you change your mind about an answer, erase your first mark completely without smudging.

For each question, decide which answer is best.

Answer the easy questions first, and then go back and answer the more difficult ones if you have time remaining on that test.

On difficult questions, eliminate as many incorrect answers as you can, then make an educated guess among those remaining.

Answer every question. Your scores on the multiple-choice tests are based on the number of questions you answer correctly. You will not be penalized for guessing. It is to your advantage to answer every question even if you must guess.

If you complete a test before time is called, recheck your work on that test. Do not look back to a test on which time has already been called, and do not go ahead to another test. To do so will disqualify you from the examination.

When time is called on any test, lay your pencil down immediately and do not mark or alter any ovals on the test or continue writing the essay. If you do, you will be dismissed and your answer document will not be scored.

Writing test tips:

  • Before you begin working on the writing test, read all material in the test booklet to understand what you are being asked to do.
  • You may plan your essay on the unlined pages provided. They will not be scored. Only your writing on the lined pages of the answer document will be scored.

  • What is Lymphs Absolute, answer.com for kids.#Answer.com #for #kids

    What is Lymphs Absolute?

Normal lymphocyte count is in the rage between 16-45% (some labs 20-40%)of white blood cells (WBCs). Increased lymphocytes (lymphocytosis) in adults is defined as an absolute lymphocyte count greater than 4,000/mm3.

It is necessary to distinguish between absolute and relative lymphocytosis. Absolute lymphocytosis may be defined as an increase in blood lymphocytes above 4,000/mm3. Relative lymphocytosis occurs when there is an increased percentage of circulating lymphocytes, but the absolute number does not exceed 4,000/mm3.

Relative, rather than absolute, leukocytosis occurs in a number of clinical situations, such as infancy, viral infections, connective tissue diseases, thyrotoxicosis and Addison’s disease. Splenomegaly causes relative lymphocytosis as a result of splenic sequestration of granulocytes. I hope that helps.

    Resolved Question:

I had a blood test done and I do not understand the results. What does it mean if your lymph absolute is high? But all else seems normal. It is not the lymphocyte it is the lymph absolute level.

You are having absolute lymphocytosis which could be caused by leukemia. The causes of absolute lymphocytosis could be

    – Other acute infections such as pertussis.

    – Some protozoal infections, such as toxoplasmosis.

    – Chronic intracellular bacterial infections such as tuberculosis or brucellosis.

    – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Answering Common Oral Hiring Board Questions

Dr. Richard B. Weinblatt, Ed.D., M.P.A., is the former Director of the Institute for Public Safety for Central Ohio Technical College and an ex Police Chief. He previously served as a professor and program manager for the Criminal Justice Institute at Seminole Community College in Sanford, FL. He holds the Certified Law Enforcement Trainer ( CLET ) designation from the American Society for Law Enforcement Training ( ASLET ). He has appeared on local and national television news programs and written extensively on law enforcement topics since 1990.

    More articles from this author:

    Dr. Richard Weinblatt

My last Law Enforcement Career Expert column for PoliceLink.com covered ten tips for mastering the police oral board. This column covers how to answer the questions themselves. While I can’t give you the exact wording that will work for you, understanding why certain questions are asked, and how to formulate the answer that fits you, is the key to getting hired in the competitive law enforcement hiring process. Of course that presumes that all political or favoritism issues are removed from the oral panel’s judgment of the candidates.

As mentioned in the previous articles, as a police academy manager and former police chief, I have seen many people bomb that first impression formed at an oral board (usually within the first 15 seconds). Having been on both sides of the process as the interviewer and the interviewee (one large agency that I interviewed successfully with told me I scored the highest of any sworn applicant to that date – “Half a point away from a perfect score.”), I have learned a few tricks that may help you. Some applicants may be well-dressed and appear sharp on oral board day, but when they open their mouth, it all goes out the window.

Here are some typical questions or concepts posed at oral panels and how to view them. Note that I could not possibly address all questions, but here are the more common ones that crop up. All of these broadly based answers will need to be refined by you to reflect the details that are unique to your life and circumstances.

The key here is to give an honest, heart-felt response that also falls within the acceptable broad parameters of oral interviews. Remember, oral board panels are made up of seasoned patrol officers and law enforcement executives. They are experienced, trained interviewers who are adept at ferreting out answers from people that are deceptive or not genuine.

    1) Tell this panel about yourself. This is an open-ended statement, usually posed in the beginning, and it gives you a terrific opportunity to create that great first impression. It is also the point at which many people turn the panel members off. In the words of my good friend and recruiting guru Commander Mark Anderson, of the Altamonte Springs, FL, Police Department: “Tell me the time, don’t build me a clock.”

All too often the long-winded answer starts with: “Well, it all started 21 years ago when I was born in a small town…” The background sound everyone hears next is the snoring of the panel members. You should only hit the highlights that are relevant to their judging you as appropriate for the position. Relevant information includes education (college degree in criminal justice, etc.), work or volunteer experience (police explorer, sales or managerial experience, and military service), or family background and familiarization with the job (relatives or multiple generations that have served as police officers) that could be used to show your potential success as a law enforcement officer.

Practice your delivery of this brief, albeit important, synopsis of your life in front of a mirror or video camera. You may even want to hold a mock oral panel to hone your delivery and answers. Your answers, as with all of these panel responses, should be delivered with a confident tone that does not trail off at the end of each sentence. If they can’t hear the end of your sentence, you convey the message that it’s not worth hearing and consequently, they won’t exert any effort to do so.

    Become a Cop: Career Profiles

    2) Why do you want to be a police officer/deputy sheriff/trooper? (depending on the type of agency you are applying to) Try to avoid the cliché answers of “I want to serve and protect” or “I want to give back to the community.” Cynical panel members are on the lookout for people who tell them what they think they want to hear.

I advise people, when you picture yourself as an officer, what is it that you are doing? If it is helping small children and being role model because the same thing occurred to you when you were a child interacting with a neighbor who was an officer, then say so. If it’s because you’ve tried the indoor, office cubicle type of career path and you are looking for a more varied, outdoor type of excitement, then say so. If it’s because you want to help bust drug dealers because your best friend from high school died after graduation from an overdose, then say so.

You have to help the panel understand that your desire stems from more than just the cars are pretty or you want to carry a gun and drive fast. Try not to focus solely on why the agency is good for you, but rather show the synergy between what you can bring to the agency and how that in turn will help you.

    3) Why do you want to work for my agency? Here’s where something more than the vague “it’s the best department” is appropriate. You need to be more specific. First hand knowledge of the agency that you have gained from doing ride-alongs or talking to the officers is crucial to helping you to come up with an answer that is truthful and works.

For example, maybe, after riding with a variety of agencies in your area, you were particularly impressed at how officers on a particular shift handled people at calls for police service with dignity and respect which reflects how you want to practice the art of policing. Or perhaps you found that the agency is heavy into DUI and traffic enforcement, which has meaning for you since a relative died from a drunk driver crash.

    4) Tell me about a strength you have. This isn’t something like I can benchpress 500 pounds. What about your character is illustrated in a trait. Are you a hard worker? Are you full of integrity and honor? Do you have a personal story that illustrates that trait in concrete terms.

10 Website that Pays to Answer Questions from Home My Honest Recommendation, online answering questions.#Online #answering #questions

10 Website that Pays You to Answer Questions from Home

    Online answering questions

Looking for a work from home opportunity where you can get paid to share your expertise?

There are a few question-answer sites which you can join and get paid to answer questions via email, phone and chat.

Check out the list of website that allows people to answer questions from home and make money online.

Answer Questions from Home via Text Message:

63336 – They have not updated their website for the last few years. Even their Facebook page is not working. I have emailed them a few times to inquire about their current positions but have not received any response.

According to their contact page – “if you are interested in working for us, please send your CV and cover letter to [email protected]”.

Answer Questions from Home via Phone/Email/Chat:

Weegy – As a Weegy expert, you can expect to make $0.20 USD for each question answered only if the user asking the question is willing to pay for an answer.

In today’s age of Quora, Yahoo Answers and Reddit, very few people uses Weegy’s Pro feature to get their questions answered and the popularity of the website have declined drastically over the years.

So basically, you will spend almost all your time waiting for a paid question and mostly answering free question from home. By the end of the month, you will earn peanuts for all your time and effort.

I would recommend you not to apply for the position of Weegy’s paid expert.

Experts 123 – According to Experts123, to get more traffic to your article or answered questions, you have to:

    • Write the best articles on a topic
    • Write answers in the most helpful way possible so that it get a lot of up-votes
    • Share the article on social media sites
    • Ask your friends to join Experts123 and contribute to each other’s traffic too.

If your answer garner a lot of up-votes, you will be considered an expert and you might get an opportunity to write a paid article (which is rare).

    Online answering questions

Most people join Experts123 to promote their dubious health products or business. Even the community is not much active with only a handful of questions asked on each category every month.

If you are a great writer then I would recommend you to start your own blog or work as a freelance writer.

FixYa – As a FixYa expert, you have to help people out with their technical queries. If you love DIY’s and fixing stuffs, you can help people by answering their technical questions via chat to get paid.

I would recommend you to work as a technical chat agent for FixYa only if you love technology. As most of the questions are related to fixing technical stuffs.

For a few questions like “Where is the water pump on a Yamaha 20 electric start 2014?”, you can find out a solution simply by researching online.

But for other questions like – “How to fix a printer?”, you have to answer those questions in a way that can be easily understood by a non-technical person.

Help Owl – You have to do one of the following:

    • ask 1000 new and original questions
    • answer 500 questions
    • upload 200 original – never uploaded before on HelpOwl – 1-10 page manual
    • upload 100 original 11-50 page manual
    • upload 67 original 51-100 page manual
    • upload 50 original 100+ pages manual
    • write 67 reviews of a company, product or automobile

… to earn 50000 points that you can exchange for $10 Amazon or Walmart gift card.

Is it worth your time? You decide.

Just Answer – If you are a real expert in any field, you can get paid to share your expertise and earn a percentage of what customers are willing to pay for the answer.

To start with the application process, you have to fill out an application form, choose the categories of expertise and submit your resume, personal identification documents, work certificates and educational certificates.

After your application is verified and approved, you can start working from home as a paid expert for Just Answer. Just Answer hire experts from worldwide.

I would recommend you to join this website but don’t expect much from the very beginning. Just focus on answering the questions as best as you can to get positive customer rating, money will automatically follow.

KGB – Their application, apps and about page works fine but none of the other pages work.

May be there is something really wrong with my internet connection or with my location.

Did the other pages open for you? Do let me know in the comments below.

Wonder – As a paid researcher for Wonder, you have to answer questions from their Research Dashboard. If the client is satisfied with your answer, you will get paid.

The website does not have much of an activity and the number of clients are decreasing day by day. I would not recommend you join Wonder.

Ether – Another website that is fading away from the crowded internet.

Almost all their experts have not received any paid opportunities within the last 90 days (June 2017 – Sep. 2017) and the situation was same before that too.

So, you won’t be able to earn any money joining as a paid expert and answering questions from home for Ether.

Maven – In the last year, I have referred over 60 qualified experts and a few hundred-other people to Maven.

Among them, only 2 qualified experts a general physician and a dietician managed to earn $150 and $30 respectively.

So, even if you are a qualified expert, you won’t make much money working as a paid expert for Maven.

I agree, if you promote your Maven profile both physically (business cards and stuff) and virtually (on social media sites) then you might get a few calls/chats here and there.

But why bother joining Maven when you can create your own website and market your business on social media sites to attract clients. At least you will weed out the competition that you have to face when you start working for websites like Maven.

    Science Fair Project Question

One of the most important considerations in picking a topic for your science fair project is to find a subject that you consider interesting. You will be spending a lot of time on it, so you do not want your science fair project to be about something that is boring.

We know that finding a topic is the hardest part of a science fair project, and sometimes you just need a little help focusing on what sorts of topics would be of interest to you. To help you find a science fair project idea that can hold your interest, Science Buddies has developed the Topic Selection Wizard. By answering a series of questions about everyday interests and activities, you will help us identify an area of science that is best for you. If your teacher has assigned a specific area of science (like “biology” or “earth science”) for your science fair, you can also browse our whole library of projects by subject.

If you are coming up with your own topic, or have a topic idea from somewhere else, be sure to look at our list of Science Fair Topics to Avoid. Steering clear of these will ensure you have a high-quality science fair project that is easier to complete!

    Your Science Fair Project Question

Once you have chosen a topic of interest, you will need to create a related scientific question. Without a good question, your whole science fair project will be much harder, if not impossible! It is important to select a question that is going to be interesting to work on for at least a few weeks and that is specific enough to allow you to find the answer with a simple experiment. A scientific question usually starts with: How, What, When, Who, Which, Why, or Where. Here are some characteristics of a good science fair project question:

    • The question should be interesting enough to read about, then work on for the next few weeks.
    • There should be at least three sources of written information on the subject. You want to be able to build on the experience of others!
    • The question should contain one factor (variable) that you can change in your experiment and at least one factor (variable) that you can measure.

Now, for something like a science fair project, it is important to think ahead. This will save you a lot of stress and unhappiness later. Visualize the experiment you might perform to answer your question. How does that possible experiment stack up against the following issues?

    • The experiment should measure changes to the important factors (variables) using a number that represents a quantity such as a count, percentage, length, width, weight, voltage, velocity, energy, time, etcetera. Or, just as good might be an experiment that measures a factor (variable) that is simply present or not present. For example, lights on in one trial, then lights off in another trial, or use fertilizer in one trial, then do not use fertilizer in another trial. If you cannot observe or measure the results of your experiment, you are not doing science!
    • You must be able to control other factors that might influence your experiment, so that you can do a fair test. A “fair test” occurs when you change only one factor (variable) and keep all other conditions the same.
    • Is your experiment safe to perform?
    • Do you have all the materials and equipment you need for your science fair project, or will you be able to obtain them in a reasonable amount of time at a cost that is okay for your family?
    • Do you have enough time to do your experiment before the science fair? For example, most plants take weeks to grow. If you want to do a project on plants, you need to start very early! For most experiments you will want to allow enough time to do a practice run in order to work out any problems in your procedures.
    • Does your science fair project meet all the rules and requirements for your science fair?
    • Have you avoided the bad science fair projects listed in the Science Fair Topics to Avoid table in this project guide?

If you do not have good answers for these issues, then you probably should look for a better science fair project question to answer.

Keep in mind that science fair projects that involve human subjects, vertebrate animals (animals with a backbone) or animal tissue, pathogenic agents, DNA, or controlled or hazardous substances, often need approval from your science fair’s Scientific Review Committee beforehand. Check with your teacher or the science fair coordinator for rules specific to your science fair. You can also read more about common science fair rules on our Scientific Review Committee page.

Educator Tools for Teaching about Scientific Questions

Using our Google Classroom Integration, educators can assign a quiz to test student understanding of which topics and questions are appropriate for a science project. Educators can also assign students an online worksheet to fill out detailing the topic of their science project.

    Examples

These are examples of good science fair project questions:

    • How does water purity affect surface tension?
    • When is the best time to plant soy beans?
    • Which material is the best insulator?
    • How does arch curvature affect load carrying strength?
    • How do different foundations stand up to earthquakes?
    • What sugars do yeast use?

These are examples of bad science fair project topics that you should avoid:

What is TTIP? And six reasons why the answer should scare you

Have you heard about TTIP? If your answer is no, don’t get too worried; you’re not meant to have

    • Lee Williams
    • @leeroy112
    • Tuesday 6 October 2015 09:30 BST

    Are you the answer

Protesters march against the controversial TTIP deal in London last year Glyn Thomas

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is a series of trade negotiations being carried out mostly in secret between the EU and US. As a bi-lateral trade agreement, TTIP is about reducing the regulatory barriers to trade for big business, things like food safety law, environmental legislation, banking regulations and the sovereign powers of individual nations. It is, as John Hilary, Executive Director of campaign group War on Want, said: “An assault on European and US societies by transnational corporations.”

Since before TTIP negotiations began last February, the process has been secretive and undemocratic. This secrecy is on-going, with nearly all information on negotiations coming from leaked documents and Freedom of Information requests.

But worryingly, the covert nature of the talks may well be the least of our problems. Here are six other reasons why we should be scared of TTIP, very scared indeed:

Public services, especially the NHS, are in the firing line. One of the main aims of TTIP is to open up Europe’s public health, education and water services to US companies. This could essentially mean the privatisation of the NHS.

The European Commission has claimed that public services will be kept out of TTIP. However, according to the Huffington Post, the UK Trade Minister Lord Livingston has admitted that talks about the NHS were still on the table.

    2 Food and environmental safety

TTIP’s ‘regulatory convergence’ agenda will seek to bring EU standards on food safety and the environment closer to those of the US. But US regulations are much less strict, with 70 per cent of all processed foods sold in US supermarkets now containing genetically modified ingredients. By contrast, the EU allows virtually no GM foods. The US also has far laxer restrictions on the use of pesticides. It also uses growth hormones in its beef which are restricted in Europe due to links to cancer. US farmers have tried to have these restrictions lifted repeatedly in the past through the World Trade Organisation and it is likely that they will use TTIP to do so again.

The same goes for the environment, where the EU’s REACH regulations are far tougher on potentially toxic substances. In Europe a company has to prove a substance is safe before it can be used; in the US the opposite is true: any substance can be used until it is proven unsafe. As an example, the EU currently bans 1,200 substances from use in cosmetics; the US just 12.

TTIP cuts both ways. The UK, under the influence of the all-powerful City of London, is thought to be seeking a loosening of US banking regulations. America’s financial rules are tougher than ours. They were put into place after the financial crisis to directly curb the powers of bankers and avoid a similar crisis happening again. TTIP, it is feared, will remove those restrictions, effectively handing all those powers back to the bankers.

Remember ACTA (the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement)? It was thrown out by a massive majority in the European Parliament in 2012 after a huge public backlash against what was rightly seen as an attack on individual privacy where internet service providers would be required to monitor people’s online activity. Well, it’s feared that TTIP could be bringing back ACTA’s central elements, proving that if the democratic approach doesn’t work, there’s always the back door. An easing of data privacy laws and a restriction of public access to pharmaceutical companies’ clinical trials are also thought to be on the cards.

The EU has admitted that TTIP will probably cause unemployment as jobs switch to the US, where labour standards and trade union rights are lower. It has even advised EU members to draw on European support funds to compensate for the expected unemployment.

Examples from other similar bi-lateral trade agreements around the world support the case for job losses. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between the US, Canada and Mexico caused the loss of one million US jobs over 12 years, instead of the hundreds of thousands of extra that were promised.

TTIP’s biggest threat to society is its inherent assault on democracy. One of the main aims of TTIP is the introduction of Investor-State Dispute Settlements (ISDS), which allow companies to sue governments if those governments’ policies cause a loss of profits. In effect it means unelected transnational corporations can dictate the policies of democratically elected governments.

ISDSs are already in place in other bi-lateral trade agreements around the world and have led to such injustices as in Germany where Swedish energy company Vattenfall is suing the German government for billions of dollars over its decision to phase out nuclear power plants in the wake of the Fukushima disaster in Japan. Here we see a public health policy put into place by a democratically elected government being threatened by an energy giant because of a potential loss of profit. Nothing could be more cynically anti-democratic.

There are around 500 similar cases of businesses versus nations going on around the world at the moment and they are all taking place before ‘arbitration tribunals’ made up of corporate lawyers appointed on an ad hoc basis, which according to War on Want’s John Hilary, are “little more than kangaroo courts” with “a vested interest in ruling in favour of business.”

So I don’t know about you, but I’m scared. I would vote against TTIP, except… hang on a minute… I can’t. Like you, I have no say whatsoever in whether TTIP goes through or not. All I can do is tell as many people about it as possible, as I hope, will you. We may be forced to accept an attack on democracy but we can at least fight against the conspiracy of silence.

Subject: RE: Hello and Thank you for your Door-Seal Purchase, Mike Peter.

This is in response to your request for comment concerning your door seals. I installed your seals in my 1988 Mooney 201. In short, the wind noise is gone! My aircraft mechanics had little trouble installing the seals and did review the information you have on your website and instructions that came with the seals. When I suggested that they install the seals without removing the door, their response was that was the only way to get good results. Cleaning all the old adhesive from the door is a must. My only concern is that the seals do stick to the door frame when the door is not opened for several weeks, especially in hot weather. I used to put a silicon dressing on my old seals ( your competitor seal) to prevent this. I now longer have that problem.

I m not sure when I saw your advertisement for the seals but think it might have been in the MAPA Log. I have since noticed it in several other publications. I have no suggestions as to the value of advertisement. I think most owners will go to the web to get some answers. Otherwise, I suggest you find some way to get to all A E folks out there. They see every aircraft at least once a year and their suggestions concerning seal replacement would probably have more weight than all the copy I all the magazines.

Congratulations on an excellent (so far) product. It performs as advertised.

Answering Application Assessment Questions, Snagajob, online answering questions.#Online #answering #questions

The right answer to assessment questions

    Online answering questionsJames asks:

“I think another form of discrimination that needs to be addressed is the ‘assessment questionnaire.’ Every time I fill out an application online I run into that, and they say there is no right or wrong answer ( WRONG!). And if you believe that, I’ve got some swamp land in Arizona you might be interested in.”

Hi, James. Fair enough – certainly there are answers an employer wants to see for specific positions. What “there is no wrong answer” is trying to get across is that you need to answer truthfully to be placed in the best position for you.

Say you’re applying for a customer service job, and one of the questions is, “Are you often able to solve problems between other people?” And your answer is truthfully, “No.” You may not be well-suited for customer service. Imagine going through an eight-hour day behind the service desk or on the phone and having half of your interactions end with angry customers calling your manager – that wouldn’t make you (or your employer) happy. Sure, the employer is likely to choose someone who is equally qualified though better suited to the task — someone who can problem-solve like a professional negotiator when a faulty item is returned — but that person is also more likely to succeed in the role and enjoy job satisfaction.

In order to succeed in a job, it needs to match up with your skills and personality; social butterflies aren’t likely to enjoy being a 3rd shift stock person any more than a shy person is going to enjoy waiting tables.

The only wrong answer is the one that puts you into a job you hate, when someone else would have enjoyed it. That can be hard to accept if you’re struggling to find a job, but imagine you’re the well-fit candidate who lost out on a job you would have loved because someone else answered the assessments untruthfully. Hope that answers your question, James!

A Revolutionary Marketing Strategy: Answer Customers – Questions, online answering questions.#Online #answering #questions

    The New York Times

Increasing Sales by Answering Customers Questions

    Online answering questions

    February 27, 2013

It is an indelible image of the financial crisis: a bird’s-eye view of the backyards of foreclosed houses, their in-ground pools festering with algae and mosquitoes. In Northern Virginia, Marcus Sheridan was in the financial storm.

By early 2009, his company, River Pools and Spas, a 20-employee installer of in-ground fiberglass pools in Virginia and Maryland, had a decline in orders from an average of six a month to barely two. That winter, four customers who had planned to install pools costing more than $50,000 each demanded their deposits back. For three consecutive weeks, the company overdrew its bank account.

Around this time, Mr. Sheridan began to overhaul his marketing. The company had been spending about $250,000 a year on radio, television and pay-per-click advertising. It would now cut the budget to about a tenth of that and focus on generating sales through informational blog posts and videos, what has become known as content marketing. But Mr. Sheridan took an unconventional approach to his content.

As a result, River Pools has recovered to exceed its peak pre-2007 revenue, and Mr. Sheridan, a 35-year-old father of four, has become something of a Web marketing guru. While he still owns a 33 percent interest in the pool company, his partners manage it day to day while he concentrates on his new venture, TheSalesLion.com. He recently spoke about his marketing approach in a conversation that has been edited and condensed.

    Q. Take us back. How did you save your company?

    A. I just started thinking more about the way I use the Internet. Most of the time when I type in a search, I’m looking for an answer to a specific question. The problem in my industry, and a lot of industries, is you don’t get a lot of great search results because most businesses don’t want to give answers; they want to talk about their company. So I realized that if I was willing to answer all these questions that people have about fiberglass pools, we might have a chance to pull this out.

    Q. What was the first question you answered?

    A. The question I was always asked within the first two minutes of talking to customers was, How much does a fiberglass pool cost? Pool installers are like mattress or car dealers — we hate talking about how much a pool costs until we have you in person because there are so many options and accessories we want to sell you. As a result, pool companies never mention price on their Web sites. But I said, I don’t care what the question is, we’re going to answer it.

    Q. Did you actually tell people the price of a pool?

    A. No — because I couldn’t. But see, that’s the magic behind this. Google’s search engine doesn’t really care if we answer the question. It’s just looking for companies that are willing to address the question. So I said in that article, there are a ton of options, so it depends, the price can range anywhere from $20,000 to $200,000 and a lot of our customers end up between $40,000 and $80,000. And that was enough. Within about 24 hours of writing that article, it was No. 1 for every fiberglass-pool, cost-related phrase you could possibly type in. And because I have analytics, so far to this day, I’ve been able to track a minimum of $1.7 million in sales to that one article.

    A. People used to ask me all the time, “Marcus, I’ve been hearing that fiberglass pools have all sorts of problems and issues. So what are the problems and issues?” Of course, they’d been talking to a concrete pool guy, but it doesn’t matter where they got it, now they have the question. So we wrote an article about the problems with fiberglass pools and specifically came right out and said: Here are the issues. Here are the benefits. You decide. Now, when you go in and type anything about fiberglass issues and problems, you’re going to see the River Pools Web site and you’re going to think, “Oh my gosh, these guys are so honest.”

    A. In most industries, there comes a time in the sale process where the customer turns to you and says, “O.K., I like you, but who are some of the other good companies that do this?” Half the time it’s a test, because people know who our competitors are because they can find them in .5 seconds online. Most contractors avoid the question. They say, “Oh, we don’t really have competition.” But because I was asked that question so often, I decided to answer it. I wrote a blog post about the best swimming pool builders in Richmond, Va., one of our main service areas.

    A. No, because the moment I put my name up there I would lose all my credibility. But here’s the thing. Take the first company on the list, Pla-Mor Pools, a top competitor of ours. If you type in, “Pla-Mor Pools reviews Richmond, Va.,” which of course people do all the time when they’re vetting a company, what comes up? Me! You vet all my competitors, now I’m showing up for all their key words. If you really want to understand the power of inbound marketing, it comes down to this idea: I want to have the conversation at my house.

    Q. Once you wrote a blog post, how much time did you spend promoting it on Twitter and Facebook?

    A. I didn’t. Dude, that one article on price has never been tweeted. It’s never been Facebooked. I’m not saying social media doesn’t help, but it’s nowhere near what people think. The only metric that really matters is total pages viewed. Here’s a statistic for you: If somebody reads 30 pages of my River Pools Web site, and we go on a sales appointment, they buy 80 percent of the time. The industry average for sales appointments is 10 percent. So, our whole marketing campaign revolves around getting people to stick around and read our stuff, because the longer they stay on our site, the greater the chance they’re going to fall in love with our company.

    Q. What do you say to business owners who say they don’t know what to blog about?

    A. That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard, and I hear it a lot. What they should be doing is just listening to every single question they get and answering it. In my consulting business the first thing we do is brainstorm what questions the company gets on a regular basis. I’ve never had a company come up with less than 100 questions in 30 minutes.

    Q. How do you suggest companies find time to do all of this blogging?

    A. Most of the time, they can take the employees they already have talking to customers and turn them into content producers. If you have 25 salespeople, and each one of them writes one post a month, your search is going to be through the roof because that’s a new piece of content every day.

    Q. How have your competitors responded to all of this?

    A. They still don’t really get it. They’re nice about it. I’ll have one of my best-pool-builder lists come out, and I’ll run into them. And they’ll say, “Hey, man, thanks for including me in that list. I’m not sure why you did it, but thanks.”

    Common questions

Deciding what format you should choose depends on the service, type of data, and your intended use of it. We have chosen types that we believe are the most useful and portable. For example, we export contacts as vCard, which is a very common format for email providers. We often will also provide additional options to fit your specific needs.

You can store your data anywhere that is safe and has enough room for it. In most cases, it is easiest to download it directly to your computer.

If you use a public computer, store it in Google Drive or an alternate storage space where you are the only user.

Note: If you use Google Drive and plan to delete your Google Account, you’ll have to move your archive to a different storage space before deleting your account.

In order to make sure your data will be downloaded, we limit these zip files to 2GB. Archives that are larger than 2GB are split into multiple zip files. Selecting the tgz or tbz format for your archive will increase the size limit to 50GB, so it is much less likely that your archive will be split.

Note: Special software may be required to unpack a tgz or tbz archive. Keep in mind that these types of files can’t have unicode characters in the file names.

Your archive expires in about 7 days. After that time, you’ll want to create a new archive with your most up-to-date information.

An expired archive doesn’t mean your data has expired, and you won’t experience any change in Google services as a result.

Note: We only allow each archive to be downloaded 5 times; after that, please request another archive.

The security of your data is very important, so when you create an archive, we want to make sure that you’re the only person downloading your data.

To do that, we ask you to re-enter your Google Account password if you haven’t recently. We understand that this may be inconvenient, but it’s important to take extra steps to keep your data safe.

Note: If your account has 2-Step Verification turned on, you may also be asked for an additional verification code that will be sent to your phone.

If something goes wrong with your archive or you’re not able to make one, try creating another one. This approach often fixes the problem.

When you export your mail from Gmail, each message’s labels are preserved in a special X-Gmail-Labels header in your download file. While no mail client recognizes this header now, most mail clients allow for extensions to be written that could make use of the labels.

See Migrate data away from G Suite for options on how to migrate your organization’s email, calendars, documents, and sites.

    Send us feedback

Let us know about your experience downloading your data. By sharing your feedback, you help Google improve this product for you and other people.

Answering My Kids Questions About My Less-Than-Stellar Youth

    By Selena Mills

    Sep 15, 2017

What are some of the toughest questions kids ask? (And ask, and ask, and ask. )

The birds and the bees? Doesn t phase me. Why they can t do what some other kid does (play on screen more, play the violent game, stay up later, etc. etc. etc.)? No problem, I m all over that action. Ready to don my philosopher s hat or ask Siri at any given moment, I am definitely up to the challenge of helping my kids understand why they can t have cake for dinner, why unicorns aren t real, and why grown-ups have hair down there .

I have no qualms outright lying to them about how their dad and I were wrestling when one of them walked in on us NOT wrestling. (Door locks, I know. You re better than us.) You bet I miss the days of their adorable questions like, why don t I have a tail? and where does my poop go from the toilet?

Out of the hundreds of questions that my kids ask me every day (not an exaggeration), it s the personal questions about me and my past that really get me. I m not alone in this, but I ve yet to see articles with any kind of popularity about how parents with shady pasts answer their kids personal questions.

Why didn t you meet your dad, mama? Where is he?

Why don t we see our other grandma as much?

    Is your step-dad your dad?

Do you have other brothers and sisters?

Where did you live, what school did you go to?

Questions like these have answers. And my answers spur more questions from them. At least they re not asking me *yet* if I did drugs. Or how did I eat, or who helped me, or what happened to me when I lived on the streets. There are no easy/acceptable answers that involve tried once and happy endings . They have yet to connect the dots between my being an advocate for Violence Unsilenced and the movement that is I Believe Her. But I know they will.

The truth of it is, there are lots of us parents who roamed WAY wild back in the day, for perfectly natural reasons and perhaps, more uncomfortably, unhealthy (yet still natural) reasons stemming from childhood/youth trauma, abuse and neglect.

As tough as it often is to admit, the choices and mistakes I made and the reality I lived all those years ago affects my kids today.

I m not necessarily conscious of my own childhood, teen and young-adulthood stories day to day. But kids? They are SO keen, I tell ya! Kids focus not only on their own experiences, but those of whom they love the most. It s part of how they learn about relationship dynamics and how they work through the mysteries and confusion they have about growing up. They are compassionate, caring, curious little sponges. It is a mighty task, answering these questions, and I do my best to walk that line of not sharing it all (because they just don t need to know it all), and helping them navigate my responses.

It is quite the emotional wham-POW, to have your own child s heart hurt for you, mirrored through their furrowed brows and sorrow in their eyes. I don t want my kids to feel sorry for me. They ve no reason to, but I have to respect their feelings and help them move through knowing me (as much as I share) the best they can. I m not going to fib about every little detail. As tough as it often is to admit, the choices and mistakes I made and the reality I lived (which was often, but not always out of my control) all those years ago affects my kids today. How come no one ever told me THAT? Well, okay maybe a few wise souls did when I was a bit older.

These days, I am a firm believer that everything we experience has the power to move us forward. Having kids has been a great example of such to me.

I keep a few self-appointed reminders in my arsenal for dealing with tough questions about my past and they have served me well, perhaps if you have similar questions to wade through with your kids, they will serve you well too.

    • Information vs. Honesty: Keep it age-appropriate while still being honest. If a simple yes or no answer will do, go for the gold! (You lucky devil!)
    • Intuition: Tap into your parenting mojo here and get hip to what they re really asking. Try and think from a kid s perspective, not how you might be triggered by their question.
    • Emotion: Try to answer matter-of-factly and don t make light of something that might be serious. We want our kids to trust us and feel comfortable talking to us and asking us about the tough stuff.

After all, it can t be be questions like why does the moon follow us home all the time, can it?

    And dictionary definition

In cracking terms, a dictionary is a word list that plugs into cracking programs as a means of “breaking” passwords. These dictionaries contain real words and those that individuals tend to choose for passwords. Because it takes only a few minutes to go through hundreds of thousands of words in a dictionary to crack a password, computer users are warned not to select a word that may be commonly found in a dictionary. In theory, users tend to select passwords that they have used previously. A popular password is NCC1701, which was the registry number for Captain James T. Kirk’s starship, the Enterprise, on the original “Star Trek” television series. Children’s names and anniversary dates are also popular passwords.

    AFP Tumor Markers

    Online answering questions

Online answering questionsAll content on Lab Tests Online has been reviewed and approved by our Editorial Review Board.

Were you looking instead for AFP Maternal, ordered during pregnancy?

    Common Questions

    1. What are the risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma?

This cancer usually occurs in people who have chronic scarring of the liver, called cirrhosis. Most commonly, this is caused by chronic infection from one of two viruses: hepatitis B or hepatitis C. Alcohol abuse also increases the risk of developing cirrhosis. Some inherited diseases, especially a disorder called hemochromatosis (in which the body absorbs too much iron, which gets deposited in liver among other organs), can cause cirrhosis and, in time, hepatocellular carcinoma, as can non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which is fat deposition in the liver, along with inflammation and damage.

    2. If my AFP is abnormal, do I need other tests?

If you have chronic liver infection or damage and your AFP suddenly rises, or if it is very elevated, your healthcare practitioner will usually ask for a study to look at your liver, such as an ultrasound exam, a CT scan, an MRI scan, or a biopsy for histopathological evaluation of tumor tissues. The scans can usually spot liver cancers if they are present. Your healthcare practitioner may also order a blood test for des-gamma carboxy prothrombin (DCP), which is also known as prothrombin induced by vitamin K absence-II (PIVKA-II), to help detect liver cancer and monitor patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.

    3. Can an AFP test be performed at home or in my healthcare practitioner’s office?

AFP is not available as a home test and it is not typically performed in a healthcare practitioner’s office. Testing is done by either a hospital laboratory or a reference laboratory.

    terrorism

    © William Collins Sons & Co. Ltd. 1979, 1986 © HarperCollins

    Publishers 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012

1795, in specific sense of “government intimidation during the Reign of Terror in France” (March 1793-July 1794), from French terrorisme , from Latin terror (see terror). If the basis of a popular government in peacetime is virtue, its basis in a time of revolution is virtue and terror — virtue, without which terror would be barbaric; and terror, without which virtue would be impotent. [Robespierre, speech in French National Convention, 1794] General sense of “systematic use of terror as a policy” is first recorded in English 1798. At one time, a word for a certain kind of mass-destruction terrorism was dynamitism (1883); and during World War I frightfulness (translating German Schrecklichkeit ) was used in Britain for “deliberate policy of terrorizing enemy non-combatants.”

    terrorism definition

Acts of violence committed by groups that view themselves as victimized by some notable historical wrong. Although these groups have no formal connection with governments, they usually have the financial and moral backing of sympathetic governments. Typically, they stage unexpected attacks on civilian targets, including embassies and airliners, with the aim of sowing fear and confusion. Israel has been a frequent target of terrorism, but the United States has increasingly become its main target. (See also September 11 attacks, Osama bin Laden, Hezbollah, and Basque region.)

Tips for Answering Job Specific Interview Questions

    Online answering questions

Can you do the job? That s at the forefront of the hiring manager s mind when conducting job interviews. Job specific interview questions are designed to measure a candidate s ability to perform the duties of the job against the skill set required for the position. In a nutshell, the hiring manager wants to know if you have the skills do the job.

This type of interview question is especially important for jobs where you need technical knowledge or where the company needs an experienced candidate who can do the job from the first day on the job.

What Are Job Specific Interview Questions?

Job specific interview questions assess a candidate s knowledge and skills. These questions are designed to determine if you have the knowledge and skills that you need to perform the job you are being considered for. When you respond your goal is to show that you are the best fit for the job out of all the applicants the employer is interviewing.

In addition to your skills, the employer will want to know whether you have the right mindset for the job and are able to help achieve the company s goals.

Here are tips on how to answer the questions so you can show the interviewer that you have all the qualifications the company is seeking.

Tips for Answering Job Specific Interview Questions

Check the Job Requirements. Before you go to an interview, check the job requirements listed in the job posting you responded to. Make a list of the skills you have that match those requirements.

Review the list prior to the interview, and if you need a cheat sheet jot down the list on the notepad that you bring to the interview with you.

Show What You Know. Show the interviewer that you know how to do the job by giving specific examples of the knowledge you have when responding to interview questions.

When you respond with actual on-the-job experiences and situations you have encountered at work, you re showing the interviewer what you know instead of just saying you can do the job.

Showcase Your Skills. As I mentioned, the company has a specific skill set in mind. That s why you were selected for an interview. The skills you listed on your resume and mentioned in your cover letter got you the interview. Be sure that you know exactly what s on your resume or CV and what you entered if you filled out a job application. Highlight the most relevant skills during your interview. Review this list of required skills for many different occupations to get started.

Capitalize on Credentials. Do you have a degree or have you taken coursework in the field? Do you have certifications or special training for the job? Be sure to mention your credentials during the interview. Knowledge really is power when it comes to job interviews and the more you can relay what you know, the better chance you will have of being invited for a second interview and ultimately getting a job offer.

Be Honest. Regardless of how much you want the job, be honest and don t say you know how to do something if you don t.

If you don t have all the required skills or educational requirements the company may be willing to train you. If not, the job isn t going to be a good fit and it s going to be a challenge to succeed in the role at the company. It s better to pass on a job than it is to fail and end up losing it because you weren t qualified.

Take the time to thoroughly prepare for your job interviews. Review both the general interview questions asked of all candidates for employment and job specific interview questions. Consider how best to respond, and be sure to have examples ready to share with the hiring manager.

    Flash Player Help

    Privacy pop-up question

This information applies to Adobe Flash Player on desktop and notebook computers. To change Flash Player settings on mobile devices, visit the Settings Manager for mobile devices.

    Question and answer websites

Why do I need to answer this question?

The application running in Adobe Flash Player has requested access to the camera and/or microphone available on your computer, from now until the application ends. Note that it is the person or company that has created the application you are using that is requesting such access, not Adobe (unless Adobe has created the application that wants access to your camera or microphone). In the dialog box shown above, [website] represents the name of the person or company requesting access. It is the responsibility of the person or company requesting access to make it clear to you why they want access and how they plan to use the audio or video. You should be aware of the privacy policy of anyone who is requesting audio or video access. For example, see the Adobe privacy policy. Contact the website requesting access for information on their privacy policy.

It’s important to understand that even though this dialog box is part of Flash Player, the audio and video will be used by an application created by a third party. Adobe assumes no responsibility for third-party privacy policies, actions of third-party companies in capturing audio or video on your computer, or such companies’ use of such data or information.

What happens if I select Allow?

If you select Allow, the application can capture what your camera sees and your microphone hears, until you close the application. The application may want to broadcast the video and audio to other people who are viewing or hearing the application you are running for example, during an interactive meeting. The application may also be recording the video and audio for later playback for example, so someone who can’t attend the meeting can review it later.

It is also possible that the application wants to make the video and audio available only for you to see and hear for example, to let you know how you look and sound while rehearsing a speech. In this case, the application does not broadcast or record the video and audio; it simply captures what you are doing while you are doing it.

As discussed in Why do I need to answer this question? above, it is the responsibility of the website requesting access to make it clear to you why they want access and how they plan to use the audio or video. For example, will it be recorded or is it only available live? If it will be recorded, who will have access to it in the future? Will it be deleted after a certain period of time? The privacy policy of anyone who is requesting audio or video access should address these sorts of issues.

What happens if I select Deny?

If you select Deny, the application does not have access to your camera or your microphone. The application will continue running, but may not function as intended. Alternately, the application may inform you that it can’t continue unless you allow access, in which case you can either allow access or close the application.

Do I have to answer this question every time I run an application from this website?

No. You can use the Privacy Settings panel to allow or deny access to your camera and microphone for all applications from this website without asking you for permission each time. To display the Privacy Settings panel:

    1. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) the application image while it is running.
    2. From the context menu, select Settings, and then click the Privacy tab. Question and answer websites

You can also use the Flash Player Settings Manager to manage your privacy both globally (for all websites) and on a site-by-site basis (for websites you have already visited). For more information, see What can I do with the Settings Manager?

How can I display this question again?

You can’t. Flash Player displays this question automatically when necessary.

    Online answering questions

Yea, I’m sure that’s one of the reasons we continue [with the show], because we have to continue to co-parent no matter what, so we definitely agreed that for the best interest of the kids that we’re going to work together and do the show together and keep a united front.

Excel Workbook – Automatic Goal Seek, are you the answer.#Are #you #the #answer

    Excel Workbook

This article demonstrates a simple VBA method to utilize the Goal Seek tool automatically, similar to a native Excel formula.

Goal Seek is an Excel built-in tool that uses numeric approximation methods to back solve for an input value to a system of formulas when given a desired output value. If you are not familiar with Goal Seek , many tutorials online can guide you to using this tool. I hate it, and try to avoid it at all costs but like everything else that I hate, there come times when I just have to face it like a man.

The problem? For one, it s not transparent, and we can t exactly tell what Excel did in the background. But more importantly, it s a pain to apply and to udpate. While all other formulas can automatically re-calculate upon changes to the input values, Goal Seek requires you to click on the menu to bring up the dialog box, then fill out three input boxes manually.

    Are you the answer

See the spreadsheet above. Everything in blue are input values to this dynamic model, which can affect the results. We want to set E14 to a value specified in D3 , so these two cells correspond to the first two parameters of Goal Seek ( Set cell and To value ). As an alternative, we put the difference between the two in F6 , and set this cell to 0 (x=y is equivalent to x-y=0). This approach will slightly simplify the coding later on, and is an easier check for the user.

The Necessary Adjustment in D6 plays an accomondating role in adjusting each of the values so that the final calculation reaches target. For Goal Seek , it is the third parameter By changing cell . Initially we have no idea what this adjustment should be, and leave it at 0. At this time, F6 is showing 0.8%, indicating that the necessary criteria haven t been fulfilled.

    Are you the answer

Let s do a Goal Seek now set F6 to 0 by changing D6 . If you record this into a macro, say Macro1, you can quickly repeat it by using an assigned shortcut key stroke, or hook it up with a command button for an easy UI. A lot of people do exactly this as an enhancement to the otherwise awkward model, but it s not good enough. Let s automate it.

Press Ctrl+F11 to bring up the Visual Basic Editor to see the embedding code to Macro1, and you ll see this line of code:

Fair enough. It s almost in plain English, and shouldn t take an VBA expert to understand. The next step is to copy and paste this line out of Macro1, to somewhere more automatically executable.

Browse to Sheet1 under Microsoft Excel Objects . Either type or use the drop-down box to create the following VBA event:

    Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()

This subroutine will be called every time the calculate event is triggered on this worksheet. Depending on whether you set the calculation to Automatic or Manual in Tools- Options , this happens when any formula-based cell changes value to a new input value. The idea is to paste the Goal Seek code here so it will be called whenever F6 may change; however, let s keep it in a separate function for the sake of good programming practice:

    Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()

    Private Sub CheckGoalSeek()

In the Visual Basic editor, it should look like this:

    Are you the answer

Now give it a try! Change any of the blue input values and you ll see Goal Seek working by itself to come up with the new adjustment values. Awesome! We re done now in terms of automating a tedious task.

Note: Always save your work before you test out the macro. depending on the version of your Excel, the repetitive call to Goal Seek may result in a run-time error. However, the next part of this code will solve the problem.

Have you noticed how slow this enhancement has made your model? Maybe not, if you have a relatively new computer or a small workbook like the sample file. But if you add some temporary debugging code to the function, you ll notice how many times your function is (unnecessarily) being triggered when you change any of the input values:

    Private Sub CheckGoalSeek()

Give it another run and, hey:

    Are you the answer

You just changed one input, and Goal Seek ran close to 2,000 times! Why.

The subroutine Worksheet_Calculate is triggered every time any function calculates a new value. There are six cells (in column E as well as cell F6 ) that depend on the changing cell D6 . As Goal Seek cycles through possible values as the input, all these six cells have to update and in turn call up more instances of Goal Seek .

Imagine you want to paint a wall red. Every time you see that the wall isn t entirely red, you call up a painter to do the job. As soon as the first painter gets to work, you realize that it s still not entirely red, so you call up another one. Even when you ve got 30 painters to simultaneously working on the wall (if that s physically possible), there might still be a white spot remaining and you make yet another phone call chances are, the job would be complete before the last five painters arrive on site. This algorithm gets the job done, but heck, is super inefficient. Add a little check to the process and avoid ever calling more than one painter!

    Private Sub CheckGoalSeek()

    Static isWorking As Boolean

If Round(Range( F6 ).Value, 6) 0 And Not isWorking Then

Adding in the static variable helps flagging whether the Goal Seek function has been employed. The first time this function is called, it raises the flag and will not release it until the full iteration of Goal Seek completes. During this time, this subroutine would still be called 2,000 instances, but it would simply bypass all the code and exit. Try again and F3 increments only once per change of input values, indicating that the Goal Seek isn t running wild to waste your computer s resources. That s what we wanted, and now we can remove that debugging code.

The first part of the If statement checks whether the solution already exists i.e. if Worksheet_Calculate is being triggered by some formula updates that are completely irrelevant to this system. If so, there s no need to call Goal Seek at all.

Here s another catch: if you want a robust model, you ve gotta consider any potential for error. How about an invalid input value? Keeping the target overall raise at 5% and changing the max raise to 0% is for sure an impossible scenario, and Goal Seek goes crazy as follows:

    Are you the answer

We realize that wasn t very smart and change the max back to 6% and geez it doesn t work! The adjustment factor had been thrown too far off anything reasonable, and now Goal Seek doesn t know what to do with such an awkward initial guess. Our model is stuck, and that ain t cool. A quick way to fix this is to reset the initial guess every time we call Goal Seek:

    Private Sub CheckGoalSeek()

    Static isWorking As Boolean

If Round(Range( F6 ).Value, 6) 0 And Not isWorking Then

It s a slight waste of resources if educated and reasonable input values can be expected at all times, but definitely a worthy investment if you want to prevent ever getting stuck .

Lastly, it s dangerous to use absolute cell references in macros. If columns or rows are added or removed, the key cells would have changed locations (from D6 to D7 , for example) and the macro will get confused! The best practice is to name the cells and refer to them by name, like the following:

    Private Sub CheckGoalSeek()

    Static isWorking As Boolean

If Round(Range( GoalSeekCell ).Value, 6) 0 And Not isWorking Then

    Range( ByChangingCell ).Value = 0

    Range( GoalSeekCell ).GoalSeek Goal:=0, ChangingCell:=.Range( ByChangingCell )

Now we have a robust macro that automatically updates Goal Seek ! Enjoy!

Why is the Sky Blue, are you the answer.#Are #you #the #answer

      Why is the Sky Blue?

      by Science Made Simple

      Why is the Sky Blue?

On a clear sunny day, the sky above us looks bright blue. In the evening, the sunset puts on a brilliant show of reds, pinks and oranges. Why is the sky blue? What makes the sunset red?

To answer these questions, we must learn about light, and the Earth’s atmosphere.

MIT used parts of this article in their online class!

      Table of Contents

      The Atmosphere

The atmosphere is the mixture of gas molecules and other materials surrounding the earth. It is made mostly of the gases nitrogen (78%), and oxygen (21%). Argon gas and water (in the form of vapor, droplets and ice crystals) are the next most common things. There are also small amounts of other gases, plus many small solid particles, like dust, soot and ashes, pollen, and salt from the oceans.

The composition of the atmosphere varies, depending on your location, the weather, and many other things. There may be more water in the air after a rainstorm, or near the ocean. Volcanoes can put large amounts of dust particles high into the atmosphere. Pollution can add different gases or dust and soot.

The atmosphere is densest (thickest) at the bottom, near the Earth. It gradually thins out as you go higher and higher up. There is no sharp break between the atmosphere and space. Learn more about the atmosphere.

      Light Waves

Light is a kind of energy that radiates, or travels, in waves. Many different kinds of energy travel in waves. For example, sound is a wave of vibrating air. Light is a wave of vibrating electric and magnetic fields.

      Are you the answer

It is one small part of a larger range of vibrating electromagnetic fields. This range is called the electromagnetic spectrum.

Electromagnetic waves travel through space at 299,792 km/sec (186,282 miles/sec). This is called the speed of light.

The energy of the radiation depends on its wavelength and frequency. Wavelength is the distance between the tops (crests) of the waves. Frequency is the number of waves that pass by each second. The longer the wavelength of the light, the lower the frequency, and the less energy it contains.

      Colors of Light

Visible light is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that our eyes can see. Light from the sun or a light bulb may look white, but it is actually a combination of many colors. We can see the different colors of the spectrum by splitting the light with a prism. Are you the answer

The spectrum is also visible when you see a rainbow in the sky.

The colors blend continuously into one another. At one end of the spectrum are the reds and oranges. These gradually shade into yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The colors have different wavelengths, frequencies, and energies. Violet has the shortest wavelength in the visible spectrum. That means it has the highest frequency and energy. Red has the longest wavelength, and lowest frequency and energy.

      Light in the Air

Light travels through space in a straight line as long as nothing disturbs it. As light moves through the atmosphere, it continues to go straight until it bumps into a bit of dust or a gas molecule. Then what happens to the light depends on its wave length and the size of the thing it hits.

Dust particles and water droplets are much larger than the wavelength of visible light. When light hits these large particles, it gets reflected, or bounced off, in different directions. The different colors of light are all reflected by the particle in the same way. The reflected light appears white because it still contains all of the same colors.

Gas molecules are smaller than the wavelength of visible light. If light bumps into them, it acts differently. When light hits a gas molecule, some of it may get absorbed. After awhile, the molecule radiates (releases, or gives off) the light in a different direction. The color that is radiated is the same color that was absorbed. The different colors of light are affected differently. All of the colors can be absorbed. But the higher frequencies (blues) are absorbed more often than the lower frequencies (reds). This process is called Rayleigh scattering. (It is named after Lord John Rayleigh, an English physicist, who first described it in the 1870’s.)

      Why is the Sky Blue?

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. Are you the answerAs light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

      Are you the answer

Why is Space Black? Why is the Sunset Red?

On Earth, the sun appears yellow. But what if you were out in space? What color would it be?

      Reading Rockets

      You are here

Question and answer websitesThe question–answer relationship (QAR) strategy helps students understand the different types of questions. By learning that the answers to some questions are “Right There” in the text, that some answers require a reader to “Think and Search,” and that some answers can only be answered “On My Own,” students recognize that they must first consider the question before developing an answer.

      Why use question–answer relationship?

      How to use question–answer relationship

      Question and answer websites

      1. Explain to students that there are four types of questions they will encounter. Define each type of question and give an example.

Four types of questions are examined in the QAR:

      • Right There Questions: Literal questions whose answers can be found in the text. Often the words used in the question are the same words found in the text.
      • Think and Search Questions: Answers are gathered from several parts of the text and put together to make meaning.
      • Author and You: These questions are based on information provided in the text but the student is required to relate it to their own experience. Although the answer does not lie directly in the text, the student must have read it in order to answer the question.
      • On My Own: These questions do not require the student to have read the passage but he/she must use their background or prior knowledge to answer the question.

      2. Read a short passage aloud to your students.

      3. Have predetermined questions you will ask after you stop reading. When you have finished reading, read the questions aloud to students and model how you decide which type of question you have been asked to answer.

      4. Show students how find information to answer the question (i.e., in the text, from your own experiences, etc.).

      Watch: Question-Answer Relationship

An elementary teacher demonstrates the QAR strategy in this video from the Virginia Department of Education. Watch question-answer relationship in action

      Examples

In this lesson, students apply the question–answer relationship strategy to word problems that refer to data displayed in a table.
